LIVE Report From Crawford
Basil in Crawford | 8-27-05 | TxBubba

Posted on 08/27/2005 10:02:40 AM PDT by TXBubba

Just talked to Basil on site in Crawford, Texas. Currently there are about 100 folks there helping to set up. They have not received word about the caravan arrival in Waco yet. JimRob is riding with the caravan. She thinks it might get to Crawford around 1:00 p.m.
...
Someone arrived early and hung yellow ribbons everywhere.

Cindy said about an hour ago in an interview with wbai. Busloads of supporters for her still coming. Folks told not to interact with the Bushbots. Wonder how many will wind up coming?

3. Ok... frankly I find the whole yellow ribbon thing ironic
traditionally, you tied Yellow ribbons round the old oak tree to bring the loved one home soon, safe and sound...

Very ironic that the pro war contingent has embraced the yellow ribbon as their symbol

25. The yellow ribbon perhaps now symbolizes
the fact that many war promoters intend to remain in the "homeland", safe and sound.

27. I've hated the yellow ribbon thing from the very beginning.
It seems so shallow and phony.

But then, I hated smiley faces and "Baby On Board" signs too. Maybe I just don't like things that are yellow.

37. the even more ironic thing
is that the original premise of the ribbon (in the song) was to welcome home an ex convict. Seems apropos in this instance.

8. The Army needs recruits
and from what I've read their tactics are pretty rough. Maybe recruiters waylaid the Freeper bus after being notified of their virulent support for the war?

Yellow Ribbons!!

Have they changed their minds about the war? Pro-war message 'Bring Them Home'!! Hillarious!

7. Do the bush backers ever have an original thought or idea?
They seem to show up at any anti war, anti bush site and can't seem to start something on their own at another location. They are always on someone elses ride.

12. Now this is interesting desecrating the flag by Freepers.........
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 12:37 PM by Historic NY
They have an American flag that is about 50 feet by 40 feet. Children of military personnel serving in the Middle East have written notes to their parents on the stripes of this flag. A very touching thing to behold.

http://www.access.gpo.gov/uscode/title4/chapter1_.html

It a violation of US Code to write, mark or otherwise mutilate a flag. Wonder where they got the idea its okay to make "our Flag" a "post-it pad".

15. They keep stopping at taverns and "titty" bars...
...so RimJob can ask for directions. He then dissappears for several hours, while the freepers mostly wait in the bus. Some occassionally wander out on to the road and stare, stunned, into oncoming headlights. They hope to make it to Crawford in time to catch the camera crews before they leave...

"Gosh darn it Jim, I can't read that sign."

"Yep. So what the hell is a 'Norte', anyway? Is it a kind of road?"

I was driving into town the other day and nearly went off the road trying to get close enough- just kept snapping all the way to Madonna Rd. hoping to get something useable.

Thanks for helping me out here.

32. My cell phone worked well in Crawford
and at Camp Casey. I didn't hear anyone complaining about cell service there. What kind of cell service does this freeper have?

Sounds like the only thing they have that Camp Casey doesn't is a moonwalk for the kids. But then we are smart enough to know that this isn't a frickin kiddie event. sheesh

38. Could it possibly be that the Caravan really isn't "lost" at all
But they are just too cowardly to actually show up, so this is the BS they are pulling as an excuse.

This whole getting lost story is starting to stink.

39. How can someone miss Crawford? It's off a major highway.
I-35 runs from Canada to Mexico, for heaven's sake! It's not as if it's hidden away in the back of beyond. Sheesh. :eyes:

The chickenhawks have flown the coop. They've gotten notice that their comrades have NOT descended on Crawford by the dozens (**snort!**) and they don't want to be alone, so they've bugged out and gone home.
