As a military family, I am offended by certain definitions of "support"
* I don't share a world view with the Freeper mentality and never will.

*I think Bush is a liar.

* I think Bush is corrupt.

* I don't support illegal wars based on lies. And I think those who blindly support such wars harm the whole of America - and especially the troops.

* I don't think buying a yellow magnet or waving the flag means much of anything. I find them to be hollow gestures unless you're fighting for veteran benefits, demanding the truth about the Iraqi war, and holding the Bush administration accountable for the lies.

* I don't think a "Pro-Bush" rally equates to supporting the troops.

* I think dissent is as American as apple pie - and then some. It's our right to dissent.

* I support Cindy Sheehan

BUT

I would never, no matter how much I disagreed with a person, desecrate a memorial that honors those who have died.

People I dislike intensely and disagree with bitterly have used my husband's name in various ways to show support to the troops. However, not once - NOT ONCE - have I ever acted on my objections to those displays. It just wouldn't be right.

6. I'm truly ashamed of and for - those wishing to destroy
the memorial at Camp Casey.

Such hate.

2. It's rather strange, to say the least.
Survivors of someone who dies of cancer often become anti-cancer activists.
Survivors of someone who is killed by a drunk driver often become anti-drunk-driving activists.
Survivors of someone who dies of gun violence often become anti-gun activists.
Survivors of someone who dies of drugs often become anti-drug activists.

But NONE of them become pro-cancer, pro-drunk-driver, pro-gun-violence, or pro-drugs.

Just what kind of INSANITY would impel anyone who lost a family member in a fraudulent war to become pro-war??? How sane is it to demonize and slander those who act against that which killed a loved one?? Just how can they even be regarded as sane enough to walk around loose?

Amazing. Simply amazing. :eyes: :eyes:

9. Exactly. That kind of hate has to drive a person crazy.

13. As a Viet Nam vet, I see a lot of these "Support Our Troops" signs ...
... and I can only get an image of pall-bearers "supporting" a dead soldier who came back in a box. It seems that's the only thing they can mean. Detestible.

15. So much truth in your thread
of coffins and support

It's like they embrace a dead soldier and call them a hero....but during life, they never gave the soldier the support he needed.

3. Honor is a precious thing.
I don't think some people know what honor really is. You do.

11. Hi Danca
Thanks for the toast!

When peace becomes hate to some, it's a tragic day for everyone.

5. Support is now code
for supporting every thought and action of * and his neocons.

In my opinion, support should be... sending food, letters, gifts, making phones calls to and accepting from soldiers stationed in Iraq and (let's not forget) Afghanistan.

I do not understand the desecration of the memorials. Not sure how they can justify that. Just nuts.

Thank you for your post. I wish you peace!

12. Precisely. The things you mentioned are support
not mindlessly following the leader of lies.

Thank you.

16. I agree with you on every single point!! Very well said.
Bush doesn't own the military, he doesn't own Christianity, he can't even afford to rent either one. I can't wait until the day when our servicemembers are treated with the respect and honor they deserve and we can tell our children that, yes, it is an honor to give that respect back to our country by joining the service because they will be used in war only when it is necessary for the security of our nation or as a last resort to protect other countries. Thanks for writing that, it needs to be written every day and shouted from the rooftops until all Americans hear it.

17. Those (right wing) so-called troop supporters are doing nothing
more than making things worse for the troops and America.
