The Freepers erected gigantic Ten Commandments in Crawford?
Holy shit, I think my irony detector just exploded.

That pesky Sixth Commandment keeps getting in their way, doesn't it?

23. I wanted to read this thread, as soon as I read 10 Commandments,
and sure enough, all of the posts seem to say what I would have...THOU SHALT NOT KILL!!! These pro-war, pro-life, pro-death penalty, pro-gun people don't get ANYTHING! And yes, the irony seems to be completely lost on them. They become so afraid of the obvious contradictions of their prized beliefs, that they GO TO WAR to defend them!!

7. Hadn't heard this. If so, what fools.
I suggest those supporting Cindy post the Beatitudes of Christ on an even bigger sign. You know, all that liberal junk like, Blessed are the poor, blessed are the meek, blessed are the peacemakers. Funny thing how those demonstrators, allegedly Christian, so conveniently run away from the centrality of that message.

17. I'm all for statues of Moses and the Ten Commandments,
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 07:17 PM by KCabotDullesMarxIII
but that reminds me of some neocon dolt on CNN intoning how Reagan's reverence for the Oval Office was so overwhelming, he would never take off his jacket in it. Or some such bizarre dress code.

To which the hilarious Dem attack-dog lawyer, Richard Ben Veniste, muttered with a grin, something like "It would have been nice if he could have shown his reverence for it by picking up a pencil and balancing the books...".

And this snippet from a sermon of St Basil the Great:

"We must learn to be discerning Christians and to honour Christ in the way in which he wants to be honoured. It is only right that honour given to anyone should take the form most acceptable to the recipient, not to the giver.
(snip)
What is the use of loading Christ's table with gold cups, while he, himself, is starving? Feed the hungry and then if you have any money left over, spend it on the altar table. Will you make a cup of gold and withold a cup of water? What use is it to adorn the altar with cloth of gold hangings and deny Christ a coat for his back! What would that profit you? Tell me: if you saw someone starving and refused to give him any food but instead spent your money on adorning the altar with gold, would he thank you? Would he not rather be outraged? Or if you saw someone in rags and stiff with cold and then did not give him clothing but set up gold columns in his honour, would he not say he was being made a fool of and insulted?"

Nuff said.

34. Those old spiritual writers and prophets
Edited on Sun Aug-28-05 11:25 AM by KCabotDullesMarxIII
laid it on the line, left is right.

How about this from Jeremiah, then:

"But you, the Lord Sabaoth, who pronounce a just sentence,
who probe the loins and the heart,
let me see the vengeance you will take on them, for I have committed my cause to you.

You have right on your side, Lord,
when I complain about you.
I would like to debate a point of justice with you.
Why is it the wicked live so prosperously?
Why do scoundrels enjoy peace?
You plant them, they take root,
and flourish, and even bear fruit.
You are always on their lips, yet so far from their hearts.
You know me Lord, you see me,
you probe my heart, it is in your hands.
Drag them off like sheep to the slaughter-house,
reserve them for the day of butchery.
(How long will the land be in mourning, and the grass wither all over the countryside? The animals and birds are dying as a result of the wickedness of the inhabitants.)"
etc, etc.

Steady on, Jeremy, you'll get us into trouble!

20. Ain't that nice of them trying to save "us' heathens
Now they should just copy them down and go research them. It will be like work, but their master is all about work.
I don't know what they are getting at, but assume it is part of their labelling of all democrats/liberals as non-Christian and whatever other box they may attempt to corral us in.

There is also the thing about wearing their religion on their sleeve. Go home and pray for revelation, freeps. I would really go off on them, but I am a Christian.

killing commandments because they are supporting a person who has broken both. So what is it the freepers are for, more lying and killing?

The love to kill and call for killing. Their leaders lie and steal.

Therefore, they don't deserve to 'own' the Commandments.
