One of the Evangelical churches in my area is having the 2nd annual GOP
picnic today. I live in an area of Seattle that is like fundie valley. Within a 1 mile radius of my house there are no less than 12 Christian churches. Three blocks over I have the Southern Baptist across the street from the 4 square Gospel Church. About another three blocks from there I have a huge Assembly of God church. Last year the Baptist church had the "GOP Picnic" at their place. This year that had it on a small mini farm next door to the 4 square. What a bunch of turds! They had the local Rush Limpballs carrying radio station there and everything.

Maybe someone needs to remind them that if they are involved
in promoting a political party, then they lose their tax-exempt status.
They IRS would be very interested to know about this "GOP Picnic."

7. I'd report them to the IRS - If they are taking political sides, they lose
their tax exemption status. That would pretty much fix their wagon. :)

But, then they'd just cry that they were being persecuted because of their religion, then sick the ACLJ or whomever on the IRS.

12. Well, I would say it has its fundie enclaves and I leive in one in Bothell
WA. I have lived here over 20 years and the churches were here when I moved here. Generally, they were pretty quiet but then the PromiseKeeper ass holes came. Then like I said last summer the S. Baptist had the GOP picnic and then They have a James Dobson guy come and talk about you can convert Gays to straights this was about 2 1/2 months ago. Then I found out that the pastor of the Assembly of God is a leading figure against Gay rights in this state and one of the evangelicals dedicated to registering 100,000 new voters. So they have been working away and all three of these churches particularly the Assembly of God having been vuilding away like crazy.

14. This is the kind of crap...
...that pisses me off about some of my evangelical buddies.

To clear up some things, the Evangelical camp is akin to a circus tent. Pat Robertson and some of these other churches espousing political beliefs from the pulpit are off over near the bearded lady. Honest churches are over near the trapeeze and human cannonball.

The German theologian Karl Barth said it perfectly when he stated that God says "No" to our efforts to reach him on our terms, so when a political party declairs that God is on their side, it should be considered that maybe, God isn't.

Just heat up their mayo-based potato salad really well. That should take care of the problem. :sarcasm:

21. Not neccessarily
It's a some A's are B's but not all B's are A's situation.

Baptists will typically tell you that Baptism is required for salvation (not all, but some).

Some Evangelicals will tell you that Baptism is nothing more than a symbol of their faith.

There's quite a few differences.

Try this;

otherwise google 'em. They do good work and this sort of thing is right up their alley, I should think.
