I have two high school teens - great kids, and they are the most important things in my life. Tonight was open house/pep rally/kick-off at school. Our high school is the only 3 years old and in the highest income area in town. I scooted my little 93 VW around the hummers and escalades in the parking lot and found a parking spot.
We heard the wonderful band, a very inspirational speech from the administrator and then the open house started. The hot dogs, meet the friendly police officer, buy the yearbook, laugh at the dunk tank and all the usual amusements and activities. Inside an area was set up with booths for all the organizations and activities available for the high school students.
I walked through and smiled and nodded, until the line was bogged down to a standstill. The crowd-stopping booth that was getting all the attention was the Young Democrats. They were signing up members and handing out information. I was so proud, and I am hoping nobody noticed my eyes welling up.
They were selling wrist bands from:

I think there is hope for this red state. I know there is hope for our youth...It was a very good day.
