1. Mary Landrieu said 3,000 LA Nat'l Guard Troops...
... who would have been available to handle this emergency are now in Iraq.

2. No worries, as the Ossies say.
Chimpy will send over some of his ranch hands in the Prairie Chapel's pickup truck to help out with the disaster relief, and if there is any brush left to be cleared after it's all over, he'll no doubt show up to lend a hand as well, along with the TV cameras to capture him in action.

3. No doubt posing with his chainsaw...
... and a pod of fawning reporters at his heels.

4. All leaves have been canceled........
for military personel throughout that area. They've also been told to evacuate. How many will be available in the aftermath is not quite known yet. Or maybe they don't WANT us to know becuase it's such a paltry number.

5. LA Nat'l Guard
When Hurricane Lily came thru a few years ago, I was never so glad to see anyone in all my life when the Guard finally showed up. We lost power, naturally, and I spent an anxious few nights hearing cars with their boom-boom slowly prowling about, looking for likely houses to loot, I guess. I put candles in every window, even tho the liklihood of fire was great. I sat by the open window, not sleeping at all. And hot! It was August, and the heat/humidity was terrible. If you tried to go outside and grab a nap on the patio, the mosquitos swarmed right thru the "Off." When the Guard showed up, they quickly started patrolling the streets, brought us ice and water, and cleared some of the downed trees so we could get out of our driveways. They were great.

BTW, when a group of LA Nat'l Guard soldiers were killed in Iraq, and their flag-draped coffins made it back to LA, the commander of our guard TOLD the local TV stations to film it...they did, and the flag-draped coffins appeared on all the local TV news.
