being on the ground and being defaced with signatures of pro-war protestors?

Part of Title 36, U.S. Code:

(g) The flag should never have placed upon it, nor on any part of it, nor attached to it any mark, insignia, letter, word, figure, design, picture, or drawing of any nature.

"Pro-Bush supporters sign a U.S. flag to give to troops stationed in Iraq during a Pro-Bush rally, Saturday.Thousands of people were gathering around US President George W. Bush's Crawford, Texas, ranch on Saturday, either to protest against the Iraq war or to show support for the president, media reports said. The anti-war demonstration was started by California woman Cindy Sheehan, who started camping out off the road leading to Bush's ranch on Aug. 6, soon after his Texas vacation began.Source: Xinhua"

6. Yes, he did...
a clear violation of the law. IMHO, we Dems need to take our flag back from "unpatriotic" people like this.

15. Bush can skate on a technicality, these folks cannot.
The freeper response to the Bush signing (and, BTW, I've always thought that picture to be one of the classics) is that what he signed was not officially an American flag for the purpose of thw law -- it was not of the right dimensions or proportion and wouldn't be considered to be a flag the same way a T-shirt with the flag printed on it is not. Not that Bush isn't a heel for signing it.

But this looks like a bonified flag, perhaps even a military issue one.

These freepers are almost definitely committing desecration and could technically be prosecuted.

...so it looks like it's on a table, to me.

on edit-- they're still writing on it, of course, but I don't have any outrage about that (or about dragging it across the ground and using it to line my cat box, for that matter....)

to hold it up to me. Considering the distance they are from the people standing behind them.

On edit, they are holding their non-writing hands underneath it to use as something to "write-on" when signing it.

but, they are the ones preaching "no desecration of the flag." Just more of their hypocrisy, at which I'm outraged. I love the flag, and hope that everyone in the protest against the war on Sept. 24 is wearing a flag pin, and flying OUR colors.

5. Aw, HELL no!
I brought a big 3x5 flag like that one to Camp Casey and did my darndest to make sure it didn't touch the ground. Even set a blanket under the flagpole in case the flag unfurled while I wasn't looking. And then there's these pathetic schmucks...

Nominated!
