Anyone else getting 'hurricane-related' weather? |

Here in western Mass I think we already are. It's quite warm, and the rain has been pouring down all day. I'm expecting to see the streets awash every time I look out the window.
If this is related to Katrina, then that is one BUGGER of a storm!

Texas does get whacking great storms that can kill people, especially if accompanied by hail.

2. West Central Florida here |
|
We've just started getting some Hurricane-related rain -- it's totally different from our usual rain.
As someone who lived through Andrew in '92 in South Florida, my prayers go out to the people of NOLA and the surrounding areas.

4. Florida Panhandle here... |
|
the feeder bands are starting to pass over. We're getting pretty breezy and the rain should start soon. This is a really big storm--we're 300 miles from N.O. and under a tropical storm warning.
The latest is that pressure is down to 902mb--lower than Camille.

getting bands. Thunder, lightning. I'm surprised. Didn't expect anything. This lady is HUGE. But then maybe she isn't much of a lady at all.
Stay safe everyone.

9. That's not in any way related to Katrina |
|
The storm is tropical. What you are seeing is from a cold front that extends down into Western Tennessee associated with a Low pressure center in southern Canada. You will not see Katrina's reach until it becomes extra tropical in a couple of days.

10. Yes, after I posted I saw another, larger-area weather map |
|
It showed the other cyclone (or anti-cyclone, I can't keep them straight) centered up in Canada with a line of clouds shuttling between it and Katrina, right over the top of Mass.

11. Here it's been a lot cooler |
|
I'm in Tennessee. Now it's 86º. Last night it was really cool and on the way home from being in Gulf Shores we had the windows down and it was very comfortable.
