The pro Bush supporter sporting the Cindy/Bitch sign was arrested
Edited on Sun Aug-28-05 02:29 PM by CatWoman
A handful also got themselves arrested, including a protester whose anti-Sheehan sign was deemed unnecessarily offensive by organizers of a large pro-Bush rally. The man carrying the sign became violent when he was asked to put it down.

Ken Robinson, of Richardson, Texas, who described himself as a Vietnam veteran, was carrying a sign at a “You Don't Speak for Me, Cindy!” rally. The sign read, “How to wreck your family in 30 days by ‘b**** in the ditch' Cindy Sheehan.”

4. Good
I thought that sign was incredibly offensive.

I was impressed with the Waco paper when I was in Crawford. They did a nice story the day after the candlelit vigil. This is a good story too.

17. Only one problem with that.
They only care about public perception. There are dozens of posts at FR calling CIndy "The Bitch In The Ditch." They don't delete the posts. They don't ban posters who post it. In other words, this is hypocrisy at its worst. The guy was trying to join in, just like they do online. Apparently, they think they can pretend to live in parallel but very different worlds.

7. They deemed it "offensive" only after negative press, I bet
Otherwise, they had no problem with the sign's sentiments.

12. Yep. It was up long enough to get the press to get a shot of it.
And once they were rightfully getting grief for it, *poof* it was objectionable.

Glenn Beck. Nuff said.

8. Both sides are looking for offensive opposition signs
to make their case. RW posters are absolutely horny for pics of "Left Wing Hippies" carrying signs that prove that we "Hate our troops and America". When they can't find them, they can always make their own.

11. As you can see, the sign gets the backing of Glenn Beck Show
Is this desperation or what?? - Cindy must have scored some serious backing and points thru-out the US.

Power to the people....yea baby!!! :D

14. Whatever, I don't believe that Ken Robinson is a Veteran.
He's just trying to make Cindy look bad, that's all. Many veterans and military members do NOT support this war anymore.

And he should be arrested threatning Cindy Sheehan!

:kick:

22. That sign got a lot of
negative attention on DU last night. And I for one, was glad they showed their true colors. Most Americans are unaware of the fact that hate radio and FR nastiness is what has lowered the level of political discourse into the gutter in this country for a long time now.

I know I have tried to tell people I know how hateful their rhetoric is, but most decent Republicans don't frequent FR nor do they listen to hate radio. Many were also unaware of the extreme and radical views being spewed by the likes of Pat Robertson for so long, because the so-called 'liberal' media has never seen fit to expose it.

At last, the sun is shining brightly on this kind of hateful rhetoric and where it is coming from. The crushing of crosses, the denigration of a grieving mother, none of this will ever appeal to mainstream Americans. I only wish it had been exposed sooner. It has so harmed this country.

Having said all that, regardless of their reasons for doing it, those on the right who asked him to remove his sign do deserve credit. At least they had the intelligence to understand that this kind of thing is not acceptable. Clearly this hate radio talkshow host, Beck, didn't have the intelligence to realize that not all Americans dwell in his hate-filled world. I am grateful to those who did.

I can respect those I disagree with and even give them credit for their dedication to what they believe in, no matter how much I disagree. But characters like Beck and his sychophants have no convictions, just hate in their hearts. They are harmful to those who sincerely believe in a cause. But George Bush and the Republican leadership have encouraged them by their silence. That the public is now learning about them and that it is harming them, is poetic justice, imo.

Speaking of which, George Bush has yet to condemn the vicious words of Pat Robertson, again an example of how they turn a blind eye to the most extreme elements on the right, which in the end, will be their undoing. And unfortunately, they have done so much harm to this country, having been ignored by both the left and the right for so long. I am glad he was arrested ~ this should have happened long ago, like when Tom Daschle's family was threatened with physical harm.
