Maybe Katrina will turn westward and head toward Texas?
I think there is a lot of unpredictability in these situations. It looks like it is going to hit New Orleans head on but it could change, couldn't it? But I would think if it turned, it would lose some of its strength, but I'm far from an expert. If I were living on the coast of Texas, I would not sleep tonight.

3. Hurricanes are notoriously unpredictable, but no, it won't lose
strength. The problem with hurricanes in the gulf is that the gulf is just a big bowl of hot water. That hot water just feeds the strength of hurricanes.

But yes, it's possible it could change course at the last minute and slam into Galveston.

9. We don't want it in Texas,
but you are right. It would be a lot worse in NOLA than in the great Coastal Bend At least Texas is above sea level.

12. And blow away Camp Casey?
I hope not. Think about this. bu$h most likely has a storm shelter at his ranch and he will be fine. But Camp Casey is out in the open.

Crawford is too far away from the coast to be threatened by a hurricane.

4. Hurricanes follow the path of least resistance
Right now, the least resistant path leads it around the LA/MS border. That front WILL turn it, the question is when and how fast.

to blow away the tents and peace lovers from our blessed shrub.

23. Why would you think that??
I would wish it would die immediately and not hit anywhere. My point was to warn people that these events can be unpredictable.

25. That is true, I always keep an eye out
for this side of the gulf. We had our underwater adventure a couple of years ago and that is enough for me.

I wished it would die out. A lot of time the press will go on and on and the storm becomes smaller and weaker and comes in as a 3 and quickly ends up a 2. I don't think that this one is going to do that though this time....

27. If it hits Texas, we wound then know
that Osama's god is more powerful than Bush's god.

I've been thinking of writing Bush and asking him to please quit praying for our country. It simply isn't working.
