cut it by Tuesday. I went through a cat 5 hurricane on Kauai on 9/11/92 and it was Devastating(5 years to rebuild)..so far away to ship supplies in. Although, Steven Spielberg had been filming Jurassic Park there so he sent over a plane load of supplies. Thank you, Steven!

6. Apparently there is no food at any of the NO shelters!!!!!

I have never heard of this in my entire life and I have even worked on a few disasters. Usually three meals a day are provided at shelters. It's just unbelievable that they are making people carry their own food in. I checked and it seems that people in shelters in Florida from Katrina ARE getting food.

The way this disaster is being (mis)handled is really, really upsetting me.

is NOT setting up any shelters in NO because there is no place in NO that is safe for a shelter. They do not want to put volunteers in harms way.

There will likely be 20 feet of water in the stadium, which is why they're only filling the upper tiers, but that water isn't going to go down for a long time. I keep thinking about how those people will be trapped in there with no way out because the doors (I asssume) are all at ground level.

apparently many people thought food would be provided. They're leaving in search of food. Hopefully they'll get back before the strong winds begin tonight.
