Maybe this is a dumb question...Hurricane and those who can't evacuate

My understanding is that people are stuck there because all flights are full and many do not have cars. Why hasn't the military been in there the last three days trying to evacuate people. I know they could not get everybody out, but they certainly could have helped!!!

I refuse to believe 70k to 100k people in new orleans don't have cars.

They could have at least provided a service to get those who wanted to go out of town.

12. I have seen numerous live interviews

and newspaper articles of people that wanted to leave but didn't have the means.
There are probably a faction of people who want to go down with the ship, however, there are people there who would have opted to leave if they had the chance.
And they should have had that chance.

If the whole city was being evacuated, why didn't they make at least 3
of the lanes outbound, leaving one for emergency traffic, if you look at the pictures, you see bumper to bumper in the outbound lanes while
the inbound lanes sit empty.

Because our governor announced 2 years ago that all our emergency equipment for disasters is now in Iraq and we have none left for the citizens of this state.
