Requiem For New Orleans.... We'll miss you.
Dammit, we have people here burying the population of NO before the storm even hits.

Was there a plague of mosquitoes carrying the stupid virus?

8. Tried that. She refuses. Shopping too limited

Was hoping whatever diaster she doomed Idaho to would happen while the chicken hawk prince was there.

3. We have a lot of Chicken Littles here. The aftermath will be as bad
as when Dubya declared Martial Law before the election.

5. No. I'm reading the NWS reports.
I would be very happy if the hurricane dissipated into nothingness right now - but that wouldn't be very realistic.

6. No, we've got people who've read and been told for years
Edited on Sun Aug-28-05 06:58 PM by HereSince1628
that the worst natural disaster on the Red Cross list of worst cases is a major hurricane striking New Orleans.

And that story has been reinforced by regular updates, which include little quotes like members of the regional government saying a category 5 striking New Orleans will be renamed K-y-a-g-b for kiss-your-ass-good-bye.

It's early, we can hope for a weakening, we can hope for a change in direction, but it isn't going to change the fact that this storm is so far following a script from one of the nations worst-case scenarios.

7. Report: Winds just dropped and a slight turn North NorthWest
Still bad but your wish may be granted. Moving at 11mph. Pressures starting to level off and rise.

The weatherman is always right.
Except when he's wrong.

9. Yeah, but since you gotta look UP to see boats on the river,
any hit can't be a good thing.

14. Me too. Never been there but looks like a great bunch of folks there
Want to keep them around so I can visit someday. Need those old people to show me the ropes!

Keep thinking good thoughts.

havocdad very worried. Was there in his misspent youth and knew a big blow would be very bad for a lovely old town. Said it was unnerving to look up to see the boats go by. My Green Mountain Boy likes water that is lower than he is. ;)

23. Sounds like a smart fellow!
Seems as if our wishes may be coming true.

(Still keeping my fingers crossed that they don't start reporting fatalities.)

why people are freaking out a bit IMO. Tomorrow evening we'll know the extent of the damage. :-(

12. New Orleans has been around since 1718
It will continue to be here for a lot longer. I hear ya Tom. Yes there will be some hard times but the people of Nawlin's have been through hard times before and come out with that same great attitude that makes it one of the greatest places in America.

So let's stop all the gloom and doom and donate to the Red Cross, Salvation Army and help these people out.

18. Hurricanes are unpredictable
Even though I strongly encourage all in the projected path to evacuate, I still have hope that it will stall or change course. Weather prediction is an imperfect science.

19. Express Your Concern Or Lack Of Concern However You Would Like.
But, crapping all over others for doing the same is at best in bad taste...

my heartfelt expression of sympathy and concern from all those that are being impacted by the storm:

20. Hey, DA! How ya doin'?
I enjoyed your blogging from Crawford!
I was honored to get there for the day yesterday; what a great experience and am sorry our paths didn't get to cross.
I agree; however you feel about this hurricane, don't belittle others. And all our concerns are there.
