11. Someone was telling me about a national gas boycott for September 1st
Has anyone else heard about this? One entire day when people will be avoiding the pumps to send a message to the gasoline companies? I've also received a couple of e-mails about it, but I haven't found anything about it on the Internet.

20. It does look similar - with the exception of the September 1st date
Below is a copy of an e-mail I received. I've removed any names from the message. I received it from my cousin, who in turn got it from someone he doesn't even know. I think a gas boycott could work if people don't drive on that day. If they call in sick to work or take public transportation, it might have an impact if enough people participate. Therefore, it should be called a national non-driving day, not just a gas boycott day. If it merely involves shifting by one day the date of a purchase they would make anyway, then it's foolish. Here's the text of the e-mail I received:

IT HAS BEEN CALCULATED THAT IF EVERYONE IN THE UNITED
STATES DID NOT PURCHASE A DROP OF GASOLINE FOR ONE DAY
AND ALL AT THE SAME TIME, THE OIL COMPANIES WOULD
CHOKE ON THEIR STOCKPILES.

AT THE SAME TIME IT WOULD HIT THE ENTIRE INDUSTRY WITH
A NET LOSS OF OVER 4.6 BILLION DOLLARS WHICH AFFECTS
THE BOTTOM LINES OF THE OIL COMPANIES.

THEREFORE SEPTEMBER 1ST HAS BEEN FORMALLY DECLARED
"STICK IT UP THEIR @$$ " DAY AND THE PEOPLE OF THIS
NATION SHOULD NOT BUY A SINGLE DROP OF GASOLINE THAT
DAY.

THE ONLY WAY THIS CAN BE DONE IS IF YOU FORWARD THIS
E-MAIL TO AS MANY PEOPLE AS YOU CAN AND AS QUICKLY AS
YOU CAN TO GET THE WORD OUT.

WAITING ON THIS ADMIINSTRATION TO STEP IN AND CONTROL
THE PRICES IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN. WHAT HAPPENED TO
THE REDUCTION AND CONTROL IN PRICES THAT THE ARAB
NATIONS PROMISED WEEKS AGO?

REMEMBER ONE THING, NOT ONLY IS THE PRICE OF GASOLINE
GOING UP BUT AT THE SAME TIME AIRLINES ARE FORCED TO
RAISE THEIR PRICES, TRUCKING COMPANIES ARE FORCED TO
RAISE THEIR PRICES WHICH EFFECTS PRICES ON EVERYTHING
THAT IS SHIPPED. THINGS LIKE FOOD, CLOTHING, BUILDING
MATERIALS, MEDICAL SUPPLIES ETC. WHO PAYS IN THE END?
WE DO!

WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. IF THEY DON'T GET THE
MESSAGE AFTER ONE DAY, WE WILL DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN.

SO DO YOUR PART AND SPREAD THE WORD. FORWARD THIS
EMAIL TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. MARK YOUR CALENDARS AND
MAKE SEPTEMBER 1ST A DAY THAT THE CITIZENS OF THE
UNITED STATES SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH"

PLEASE FORWARD THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU CAN!!!!

13. look in a library for Mother Earth News articles on the subject
They had several fermenter and distillery designs that looked to be made mostly of PVC pipe.

Yeast is gonna work best on sugars. To get the most out of corn its carb content needs to be converted to sugar by enzyme activity. Depending on where you live corn might not be the best choice, although corn mash is tradition in moonshining.

But if you've ever raised sugar beets you'll know they get huge

we decided not to drive out west this week! I probably would have been stranded in the middle of nowhere in New Mexico, which wouldn't have been a bad thing, come to think of it.

As news of the devastation comes in from rigs and refineries, we could break this by the end of trading day.
