Please...don't hesitate to demand adequate mental health care for yourselves. This is shaping up to be a disaster of Biblical proportions. You WILL need help. It's not a weakness, you're human. I know I'd be fried mentally if my home was under 20 feet of water, etc........ Please don't be ashamed to demand that help.

4. I have a friend in Thibodaux, LA

I just got off AIM with him. His family decided to stay and ride it out. I think they're crazy and hope they'll be ok. I asked if their house had 2 stories but it only has one. I'm really afraid for them.

history and heirlooms are likely destroyed.

On a 2nd story -- but on the wrong side of the levy (on the shore of L. Pontchatrain).

Fortunately, my family is safely 350 miles away from this monster.

8. My daughter and SO arrived safely

after driving for twelve hours (Lafayette is 2 hours away) from New Orleans today. They are devastated and are preparing for their home to be under water. The horror is that NO will be gone forever. We all love this city so much, as do millions of other people. I am praying for all those in harm's way and am grateful they made it to Lafayette.

I can't imagine knowing that I will be homeless by this time tomorrow...much less worrying that the entire city will be lost. My heart goes out to you and your daughter and her SO. Have all of their friends evacuated?
