Education levels of Dems vs Repugs?

I could swear around the election I saw some studies that showed blue states to generally have a higher proportion of people with college degrees, and advanced degrees. In fact, the top states are all blue, if I remember correctly. How about intelligence tests, someone is trying to tell me that repugs perform better on verbal tests, which K find very hard to believe considering the poor debating skills I've seen of many repugs.

Anyone have some figures, or can tell me where I can find them? If I was in school I'd have access to all kinds of Journal articles, but unfortunately I'm on an extended leave of absence.

1. I think the spectrum is broad across both parties.

I really don't think you will find anything that will indicate a larger proportion in either. MY aunt is very intelligent, makes a 6 figure salary, and votes republican. The rest of her siblings are all just as intelligent, some with more education than her, and they all vote blue.

Map that percentage in correlation to average IQ and Income by state and I think you may find some interesting numbers.

because saying some of them are better educated indicates that others aren't. She votes purely by the pocketbook unfortunately, and the rest make a good salary, but nowhere near what she does. THere are intelligent people in both parties who have different reasons for voting the way they do, and than the rest of us(not including you, you could be one of the intelligent ones.)

But that didn't stop many people here from seizing on them. That's not really surprising, though, for those who have to have their political analysis dumbed down to red/blue.

3. I've googled for this topic before..

It was a while ago. I seem to recall that Blue States - almost uniformly - had a higher concentration of college-educated citizens, while the Reds were less-educated.

I can't remember for the life of me where I saw this. Try googling for it.. sorry!

they hate bush for spending like an idiot, not funding programs, sticking religion and his religious right freak shows in powerful places, bigger government, messing with the american image worldwide....

but they still wont vote dem. because they are scared of bigger government, not funding programs, spending like idiots, etc etc...

My father for example, will back * just because he invaded Iraq. He has a Physics degree and a chemistry degree from the university of Strathclyde, and is a very smart scientist. He still fosters his dream of retiring a millionaire and the big american dream that brought him here in 1973, but he is kidding himself.

The lower and higher educated vote Dem and the middle vote Rep. I thought it odd that as you get to a masters and PHD you would be in the liberal side if at a BS or BA you would be a Rep. High school and non-high school were dem. The 'blue' parts do have the listing of better schools and the South does have lower rating on school. It does come out that way in Maine also. The north half of the state is more rep. than the rest and the rate of high school drop-out is higher and less go to college in that part. Their income is also lower but it may have to do with incomes, how their parents voted etc.I think there is a lot more into this that has not been studied.It seems to cut and dry to really think it is true. How can that all fit in with the solid South used to be Dem. and now is Rep?

16. I don't think its' intelligence or college

but curiosity. I know I am more curious about world events then other adults in my area so I read more, ask more questions. I don't trust one source for almost any information and especially if it will impact myself and my family.

I'm not sure how you can measure any of that though.
