Yo idiots at CNN - here's a concept! At least we KNEW that Katrina was coming to town which makes a big difference with the Tsuamani that happened last December where NO ONE knew it was coming which it why that Tsunami was such a horrible thing. I appreciate the fact that this hurricane is going to be devestating for those living in the New Orleans region but hopefully people had the time to get out of the area or at least to someplace safe ahead of time. I'm sure those who lost people in the Asian Tsunami which they had had the same opportunity

(CNN) -- Flooding expected from Hurricane Katrina could wreak catastrophe on New Orleans, overwhelming its water and sewage systems, damaging its structures and leaving survivors in a bowl of toxic soup, a top hurricane expert said Sunday.

Katrina made landfall Monday morning between Grand Isle, Louisiana, and the mouth of the Mississippi River. (Watch the latest update)

"We need to recognize we may be about to experience our equivalent of the Asian tsunami, in terms of the damage and the numbers of people that can be killed," said Ivor van Heerden, director of the Louisiana State University Public Health Research Center in Baton Rouge.

Katrina is NOT our tsunami. Yes, it's a disaster, but with under 20 lives lost so far, there is no comparison. Also, they knew it was coming for a week.

7. Tsunami is a very apt analogy in terms of property damage

Consider a Tsunami plus a tornado, about 50 miles accross.

However, since the storm was downgraded, the flooding situation won't be as bad as it could have been.

Innundating a city of a million people under eighteen feet of water for weeks would be almost imaginably catastrophic to property, and for people who couldn't leave.

interviewing 2 guys in MS who were going to ride out the storm 3 miles from the coast and he asked them if they had seen any coverage of the tsunami and didn't that mean anything to them.

You can't just keep saying, "Yep, wind's blowing and it's raining." Inevitably, you have to say something else, and since most CNN news readers aren't real bright, stupid stuff like this is what you get.
