Last year, after Charley, it was that way in my area. I could drive to an area that had little damage and it would work.

If that is the case, text messaging might work. But at some put, if there is no way to charge the cell phone, then the phone will die.

Here is another kick. If the land phone system works, but there isn't any electricity, only those who have phones that don't need to be plugged into an electrical outlet will work. We had phone service serveral days before we had electricity. But I had a "modern" phone that required electricity. OUCH!

Since the hurricanes last year, I've been trying to find and BUY a phone that only plugs into the phone line. I'm still looking.

I have an old phone that I picked up that way just for tornado season. If we have a power outage I can still use it.

it's getting very frustrating. Some photos make us think our house is probably holding water but others make us think that that's not the case.
