OK, Here's the official Misunderstood Conservatives thread.
Those poor people on the right are always quoting themselves out of context or something, and it turns out they didn't say even half the stuff that they get recorded on tape saying. I'll start with a few examples and the rest of you can chime in. This is sort of a liberal mea culpa thread for liberals seeking forgiveness for all the things they claim they heard the wingnuts saying.

OK, Here goes:

Turns out Rush didn't actually say Cindy just made up all that stuff about having a son who died in Iraq.

Pat Robertson didn't really say Hugo Chavez should be assassinated.

...take it from here.

6. * was misunderstood when he said to P. Robertson...
"There won't be any casualties". It's easy to see how that could be misunderstood, right?

that Bush's military record was spotty because he was secretly flying Stealth fighters. But it was quite a while ago--I'm sure it's just my bad memory...

10. That's hilarious about * and the stealth fighters. Are all
RWers kooks? I would love a link.

I can't believe anyone takes them seriously when they say stuff like that.

Gotta go shop for freedom now:)

11. Bush was on a Double Super Secret mission to the future,
flying stealth bombers in the Grenada War in 1983. They selected him out of thousands of applicants becasue he was so good at disappearing from duty stations.
