I've always felt that when junior* starts going down in the polls his base will abandon him. He will be seen for the moron he is. At best his mental status is questionable at worst it's dangerous, so we are in for quite the show. He will not go peacefully. He'll be forced out screaming and kicking the whole way, defiant to the end. The fall will be good and we better be paying attention or we'll miss it for it will be so fleeting. A brief moment in history, a failed Presidency. George W. Bush*

1. His base will never abandon him.

Bush's base is the religious right. They will stick with him through thick and thin, because he adheres to the same myths as do they.

2. His base has abandoned him at times, not all of them, but some

like they did regarding his flip-flop on choice and gay marriage. I think the real point here is a basic rule in politics - "political leprosy." Bush is becoming a political leper. The rats will jump ship to avoid going down with him. It's politics 101.

3. Worse, his handlers will abandon him. Like they did Ronald Reagan.

After Reagan left office and was of no use to the real power brokers he was left on his own. I remember watching some of the testimony he was forced to give in the Iran Contra hearings. No handlers, no one coaching his answers and no makeup. Sitting before the committee with his hair mussed and tie in need of straightening he answered, "I don't recall . . " over and over again. He could not even remember the name of his chief of staff.

As much as I hated everything he stood for I could only feel sadness and pity for this poor shell of a man.

Now we all know why he took so many naps . . .

4. I've noticed ex-presidents are given a pass......

once they leave office. No matter how messed up they were, they somehow become elder statesmen and are considered grandfatherly. They are afforded respect and deference.

This will not happen to gwb*.

If he manages to stay out of prison, he will be hounded by his failures and we will be his nightmares. He destroyed much of what was really America with deceitful divisive rhetoric. He stole our treasure and soiled our national reputation

He will not rest or sleep contentedly, because we will never forget what he did. He must realize we will never forgive him.

Let god have his soul, his ass is ours!
