Gov. Barbour on WDSU now.

Unable to give us status on casinos because people can't get there.

"Major damage on the coast."

have anything to come home to. I fear she may be right.
Hopefully she is safe.

13. I'm glad they're at least safe
I have some in-laws who think they may have lost their home, too. They are 76 & 82 years old. Bless their hearts, they left with their little dog, a coo coo clock, clothing and family photos.

Their family in Houston had been trying to get them to move in with them for years, now they may have no choice.

2. M-DOT number for info: 601-659-7017
Many highway closures. Highway 90 closed on the coast. Too early to tell about the damages.

9. I hope all those poor people
affected by the power outage will stop and think, for a few seconds only, how it would feel to be without that power for months at a time. How would they feel towards their local or federal officials? That's what's going on in Iraq right now, thanks to our "president."

10. MS coast is "worse than Camille" according to Gov. Barbour.
NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana (CNN) -- Hurricane Katrina weakened slightly as it pummeled the Gulf Coast Monday, but the powerful storm still had plenty of punch as it swept through Mississippi with maximum sustained winds of 95 mph.

The weather service reported that "extensive and life-threatening storm surge flooding" was occurring along the Louisiana and Mississippi coast.

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour told reporters that Katrina "came in on Mississippi like a ton of bricks."

When asked what was his greatest fear, Barbour replied grimly "that there are a lot of dead people down there."
