Did they come?
I read about how around 40 Gold star Families were going to go to Arlington South and take out the crosses that had their loved ones names on them.

Question - did they?

Are the names put on paper and taped on the crosses or are the names themselves painted on the crosses?

Here is a possible solution. The crosses do not belong to them. And the property they are on does not belong to them either. So - if these families are so intent upon not having their loved ones in a memorial - then supply white paint and have them blot out their loved ones names.

Hard yes. But those crosses do not belong to them. Let them see if they can paint out their loved ones names......Cindy puts a human element to the war and this is something that Americans always seem to have such great difficulty grappling with. If these families want to erase those names - let them, but the crosses stand.

1. Related question: did the military recruiters go to the counter-protest?
And if so, did they get anyone to sign up?

5. I'd read that they could take the names but not the crosses.
But I can't imagine anyone stopping a mother from taking the cross.

4. Were it up to me I'd have some one meet each one of the Gold
Star Mothers and help them find the cross for their sacrifice and put a nice red, white and blue bow in it for them like a folded flag. Find it, present it and escort them with the dignity they deserve back to their car or to the shelter of Camp Casey for a moment of quiet reflection upon their loss.

8. Wow.
That is one GREAT suggestion. Understated and poignant.
