I'm in Houston with my children, however, my husband decided to return to Mandeville this evening, against my advice, of course. He was able to get down Hwy 59 to 1088 at which point the road was blocked by MANY trees. He happened upon a crew clearing the road and joined in to help. He said there was about 8 of them, and it took 2.5 hours to clear 59 from 1088 to Florida. No power anywhere. Most places south of Florida/Hwy 22 appeared to have water from what he could tell. The back of Woodridge Blvd. is defin. flooded. Also, many trees and power poles down in that neighborhood also. He described it as a big mess. He should know a mess when he sees one. He spent many months last year adjusting property claims in Florida after their Hurricanes. He says this looks worse to him in some ways. He has no cell signal as long as he is in St. Tammany. He has computer and cell in Baton Rouge only. Looks like a very long clean up process and a long wait to have electricity restored due to the tremendous amount of downed trees, power lines, and power poles. It got dark on him before he could look around much further and he returned to Baton Rouge. He will go back in the morning, and I'll try to post an update when he is able to relay any new information."
