Just got back from the pro-peace vigil in Coronado CA. Right where bu$h is
staying.

There were about 2000 of us and about 80 of "them". The Pro-War yahoos. Most of which were young men of military age. They were loud, abusive and foul. We just stood silently with our candles while they yelled from across the street "Get a job", "We love bu$h", "We love war", "Give war a chance", "I Hate Hippies", "Rush is Right", "Get a clue"... They were the stupidest crowd I have ever seen.

During all this from their side, we just remained silent unless we sang, "Give Peace a Chance", "This Land Is our Land" and "Imagine". They started yelling the words to "America the Beautiful" when we all joined them with our perfect harmonies and correct lyrics. We BLEW THEM AWAY! It was GREAT!

Police officers from all over the county were their. Many on horseback. Secret Service guys were everywhere, but law enforcement did a great job of keeping the freeps on their side of the street. We were quiet and orderly, they were drunk, loud and DUMB!

The local Fox News crew was focusing on their side, big time. Often stirring them up. That crew would only take a few video shots of us from their side of the street.
What do you expect from Fox.

I'll try to load up some of the pics I took.

Anti-war protestors gather across the street from a group of President Bush supporters Monday, Aug. 29, 2005, in San Diego. The protestors gathered near the Hotel del Coronado to hold a candlelight vigil and call for an end to the war in Iraq. More than 1,600 vigils were held from coast to coast, drawing tens of thousands of people, according to the organizers, liberal advocacy groups MoveOn.org, TrueMajority and Democracy for America. 4. Only the Mexican TV station and an independant KUSI.
The Fox crew spent a lot of time with the pro-war people.

5. Ditto. Just got back from the Hotel Del . . .
with my young family. We had a bite to eat at "La Salsa," on the NE corner of the hotel and several Secret Service came in while we were there and ordered dinner. Had the momentary thought of just wanting to go up and ask one of them what they honestly thought of the Shrub, but better judgment took hold. I think it was the courage from a beer bottle in me. Man those guys have a lot of bulges under their jackets. I'm glad I didn't.

Went to the protest along the side-walk facing the beach. Very moving. Lots of candles and beautiful, meaningful, anti-war, support the troops kind of songs. Pulled out our candles and joined in. Even taps was played. The Sheeple on the other side of the street, and there were very few in comparison, had enough sense to respectfully stay mostly quiet through that emotional moment. Don't they get it?

Had a small group (about 6 or 7 people) come from behind from the beach near the memorial and start shouting stupid stuff like --- "You're killing our troops!" And "USA, USA, USA . . ."

My question to them was "Who cares more about the troops? Those of us who want to stop this illegal, immoral war and bring the troops safely home, or you all who want to continue this fraudulent war?"

"And if you are so eager to keep this sham of a war going, then go enlist. Put-up or shut-up."

14. Thank you
I'm glad we were well represented. Don't those young men who protest the protesters see the irony of their not being in the military? Obviously, it takes a moron to support a moron.

15. Hee, hee, sang "America the Beautiful"
I can just hear the drink-sodden shouts of "O! Beautiful! For! Spacious! Skies!" getting subsumed and overwhelmed by an answering harmonious chorus of "and amber waves of grain."

I'm not surprised many on their side were loaded; alcohol is a wonderful tool of denial.

I would suggest that you write a letter to the Fox News affiliate, detailing the behavior of their coverage crew, its work in stirring up the pro-war folks, and your opinion of a news crew that appears to be trying to create some news to cover. Stations are required to keep these kinds of letters on file. Keep a copy, and then make an appointment to see their file in about 30 days or so. Even Fox stations have to worry a little bit about getting an FCC complaint, even if its only for the nuisance value.

Oh, and bring along some blank enlistment forms for the next demonstration.
