Where the fuck is the military?
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 12:29 AM by Bleachers7
I know we have many in Iraq, but there are still many here. Where is the Navy? Where is the Army? Why aren't they down there already? I thought we could mobilize for anything. The military has the tools to get to a lot of these places and they are self sufficient.

Aren't there any Navy bases near there? Even California is only a few hours away by air.

List of Navy bases. There are tons on them in the area.

1. Please don't blame the Navy.
The Navy has ships, not boats. Ships can't do much good in shollow water.

3. I'm not blaming the Navy for anything.
They take orders. That said, they have all kinds of equipment and talented personnel. Where are the hospital boats? Where are the sailors?

6. In times past -- when there was major flooding ALL hands were
called to help the local citizens.

I know because my dad was career military and when I was very young there was heavy flooding and ALL hands (that's Navy speak) were called and my dad and the other fathers and everyone in the military used every piece of equipment on base to help rescue people. All through his career he helped out during times of crisis. As did ALL hands on Base. Tsunami in Hawaii, floods, forest fires etc. -- no call would come the men just left and were organized according to equipment and the emergency at hand.

Military bases have all sorts of equipment -- and if they aren't gearing up to help right now -- then the military is DEAD --as far as being PART of the United States.

As a military brat -- it is beyond my imagination that the military personnel of ALL branches don't want to help the areas hit hard by this disaster.

In following the aftermath and the clean-up we don't hear or see film footage of the military helping out we need to contact all of our congress critters and find out WHY the military wasn't deployed to help the victims. (The Military P.R. departments will make sure the news media is alerted to military participation -- because the P.R. guys know the value of community service.)
