What an unbelievable day
It certainly wasn't as bad as it could have been--but it certainly was horrific.
I can't imagine the devastation as it is now, and I don't think I could have grasped it worse.
I pray for my friend Merh...who has lost her home. I pray for Crispini, who still hasn't heard from her family. I pray for DylanGarcia..and certainly hope he is able to find his child sooner rather than later. That has to be a certain kind of torture. My friend in Mobile fared pretty well considering. Who would think that just having your house flood would be a welcome thing?
I pray for all of the citizens of the Gulf coast who were affected.
I've been watching the evacuations today. The kids, the elderly, etc.
I've heard the heart wrenching stories of the ones that are trapped.
My heart is breaking. I feel so helpless. I can't hardly stand it and I know that the news that will be coming out in the next few days will surely test our faith. It brings to light one thing. Our federal government has taken the money and run. Much of this shouldn't have happened or played out the way it did. And while the Gulf Coast is dark tonight, George Bush was lining his pockets, blissfully unaware of the dead people floating in the streets of our Southern cities.

3. Wow! What a POWERFUL statement!
You need to put this in a LTE in a HUGE paper!

"Our federal government has taken the money and run. Much of this shouldn't have happened or played out the way it did. And while the Gulf Coast is dark tonight, George Bush was lining his pockets, blissfully unaware of the dead people floating in the streets of our Southern cities."

Man! We need to take up a collection and run a full page of your post in the NYT & WP!

That paints the picture in full.

Those poor people in the path of this storm...their lives will never be the same again.

:kick:

5. HOW DARE THEY??
I just read this post and I am beyond mad.Where the hell are the people in Washington while this is happening???Sleeping in their comfy beds with their silk sheets !!!!
And the war criminal is acting all cutesy over on Coronado Island
Living the life of the elistist, surrounded by his base.
This has to end,not only are people dying in Iraq but they are dying here and none of this had to happen.
The national guard is gone, the money that was supposed to prevent this flooding from happening is gone.
I know these people mean nothing to the bush repukes but these are souls suffering the tortures of hell and the party goes on for bush and his buddies.
What a sad thing this is and yet people dont get it.

6. The mayor of New Orleans says he's been in contact with them all day
He says Bush has told him to make a wish list of what all they need. He's been working with FEMA all day, and FEMA has been providing aircraft, if I understood him correctly. They have been doing a great deal of damage assessment. The mayor's not a Repub, so I doubt he's covering for Bush.

Never thought I'd defend Bush. I'm not, really, I'm just passing on what the mayor said in an interview earlier. I haven't seen anything about Bush all day, aside from a couple of statements about the hurricane. I don't care about anything else right now.

10. Details of bush's day
Well this morning and afternoon georgie boy was in Phoenix at a big celebration with Mccain and a bunch of their buddies. They played golf and had a fancy dinner and a huge cake.
He then flew to Coronado Island in CA to the famous hotel there for a big fund raiser party this evening. He is spending the night ,part of his vacation, and then he is supposed to head back to Crawford.
I have to say that I truly believe that if Kerry or Clinton were predident they would have flown over the states affected and made sure that they could do everything in their power to help these people.
Maybe the difference is they give a damn about their fellow man and Bush cares for no one.Its all about his ego!!!!

12. Bush's father did the same thing after Andrew, IIRC.
He got in trouble in Florida for not visiting for a week.

7. Yes it was...
Despite all the gloom and doom predictions, one of the greatest cities in America still stands tonight. They're not out of the dark yet but they weren't obliterated like a lot of people predicted. All we can do is contribute to the Red Cross, et al and hope that the people of New Orleans get the assistance they need to rebuild and get on with their lives. We can also pray for those in Gulfport and Biloxi and those inland that bore the brunt of the full wrath of Mother Nature.

I do agree with you that if we were concentrating on helping the people of America instead of bankrupting the treasury for the War For Oil we'd have had more NG troops and equipment available to help the people in Katrina's path. We need to hold those responsible for the people that have died and are suffering now. We owe them that much.

Sleep well in your luxury hotel tonight George. Sleep well Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Karl, Condi and all of those who chose this expensive war agains Iraq instead of helping the people of America. Your time is coming. Maybe not in this life but it's coming.

8. A levee has just broken in New Orleans...unfortunately it's going....
...to get worse.

Biloxi has reported 54 deaths...30 in one apartment complex alone.

Miami and Tennessee are sending cadaver dogs to be at work by tomorrow.

9. Much worse
This is heartbreaking. I can't begin to imagine what it is like for these people... trying to save patients in a flooding hospital, people trapped on their roofs, in their attics....

13. I'm feeling the same way you are.
I am Sad for the people of N.O. and the gulf who have had to endure such hell and who will get the barest of help from the government who doesn't give a rats ass about them.

I am Angry at our corrupt government who has put greed and money before people and can only do so because they are in power ONLY because of their greed and money. :puke:

I hope and pray that Karma bites them in the ass good and hard! :grr:
