Tables turned as US forces fret over home
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/common/story_page/0,5744,16429521%255E31477,00.html

August 30, 2005

BAGHDAD: Hundreds of Louisiana soldiers in Iraq found themselves in unfamiliar territory yesterday, fretting and agonising over family members back home in hurricane Katrina's path.

"I'm very worried. My fiancee said the wind was picking up to 180, 185 miles per hour (290-298km/h)," said Army Specialist Gerard Lawson, 21, of New Orleans.

"What? I talked to my wife an hour ago and she said it was 175 miles per hour," Sergeant Roger Sanders, 31, of Baton Rouge, said.

"I heard if the levee breaks, New Orleans could be under 27 feet (8m) of water," said Corporal Micah Golmon, eliciting horrified looks from other soldiers hungry for information in their spartan Camp Liberty tent.

"I live 3 miles (5km) from that levee," Specialist Lawson said.

4. Is there anything set up to help these guys get information?
Not that there is a lot of it at the moment, but there should be something set up for them.

I thought about the Reserve/Guard members from those states who are overseas - oh man, it's bad. Of course they feel the need to be with their families, to help with the people at home who need help.....it's got to hurt them badly if they can't go....like they didn't have enough already to worry about :(
