Skinner and all-DU Hurricane Relief Center

Would it be possible to set up a DU Hurricane Relief Center for our members who have been affected?
This would include up to the minute updates about the situation, setting up a Hurricane Relief fund, and perhaps even coordinating volunteers to go down and help rebuild. Heck, if Jimmy Carter can build a house in a weekend, I'm sure we can.
Who would want to be on board with this and would you give us a designated forum for this and allow us to solicit funding?

I'm unemployed, so can't contribute money. But time, energy, and a desire to help--I have those things in droves.

I've also heard from a number of DUers who'd be willing to host refugees.

I would appreciate hearing updates about Merh, and others. This kind of situation would make it easier to find that information, rather than searching the forums.

11. Yes, it would be good to have a pinned thread for updates on DUers

So we can keep tabs on our DU friends. If anyone got a call from someone in the storm area, they could post and let the rest of us know they are OK or what they need. If the thread were tacked on the top of Latest Page, we could find it in a hurry and not wast time with searches for individual DUer's posts in hopes of finding them online or that someone has heard from them.

Glad to see some are already checking in. Has anyone heard from Maddy McCall? WOuld love a PM if anyone has heard from her as I will be in and out all day and unable to spend a lot of time on the seacrh feature.

A tacked check in thread would sure be a help... Skinner? Pretty please?
