Okay.just got to ask..if Bio/chemical attack on US
were to happen and we were given 2 to 3 days notice.......how in the hell would the US government get people to safety.....what we have seen with Katrina..there is no way things would go smoothly...and no major plan to get people out of big cities........

Is homeland security doing its job?........And would all the people going to Ev shelters have to be searched(10) minutes each still be needed.....if so that would mean...more than half the population of a city town burg would die!...

what is the plan for this?...anyone know..besides kiss your ass good-bye....like these states are doing?.our military is not there in force to help them.I heard that bush 1 had 30,000 National Guard sent to Florida after Andrew.......and now we are scraping for men and women to come in?

16. Don't laugh.
My ex's step-father worked at the nuclear sub facility in Groton, CT. He told us once that if there was a meltdown or a bombing the government wouldn't tell the public because evacuation is impossible in that area. They'd rather deal with the panic afterwards than the panic before.

9. They knew about the Aceh tsunami, and chose not to panic them...
...and besides, a bio/chem attack will probably only effect Democrats == like the Anthrax mailings.

2. Or, if there is no warning
but a bio or chem attack that makes a central city unhabitable for weeks or more, what do we do with the people and businesses? Red cross tents?

19. I favor the "if it's broke, fix it" approach.
The libertarian position is more like: "it will never work, forget about it"

7. There is no plan. Not for a truly major disaster.
In fact, I'd say we're worse off than in 2000, now that we've shipped our National Guard over to Iraq.

15. "Thinning out the herd ..."
Clearing out real estate for more overpriced condos, reducing the recipients of social programs, all in one fell swoop....

12. My point being.even with this hurricane
it shows that the nation is NO better than before 9-11..........we can not depend on our government for any easy escape routes....stations set up for food water .on a direct route out of areas.....no "safe" houses.....but yet they spend billions saying they are securing the country......I would like to know where?..........

17. If you find out where, let us know.
It would be interesting to start a letter campaign, asking various "news" publications to do an expose. Dateline, the NYT, Time Magazine, Newsweek.

I think it would be great if more people found out how little has been done, or that we are quite possible even worse off than before we started.

13. A lot of people chose not to evacuate, and NO had limited directions.
New Orleans had basically two ways out. They could take I-10 west, or east. East ran into the evacuation of Mississippi, and also along the possible path of the hurricane, although there was a highway north once they got halfway to Mississippi. But their options were limited by the storm.

Other cities have better road structures. New Orleans is basically an island, surrounded by swamps. Even so, if there had been a chemical threat centered only on New Orleans, people could have evacuated south, and east (without worrying about the Mississippi traffic) and they wouldn't have to evacuate as far.

It would never be easy, but different disasters and different cities have their own problems, and it's never easy to plan for such emergencies. Something will always happen to interfere with the best plans. New Orleans supposedly got a million people out of the city in less than a day. That's pretty amazing, to me.

20. Easy one - here's the new DHS-FEMA plan:
Commander CuckooBananas will appear on Fox news from his bunker under the Disneyland castle and reassure us that the nation is praying for us, and his government will get help to us as soon as they can assess the damage for insurance purposes.

Are there any other questions at this time?
