Food/water....medicine. I'll give.

You don't need that color TV you just smashed the window for to survive.

Millions of impoverished all over the world endure worse than folks in the Katrina states and don't resort to taking another's HARD EARNED belongings.

1. I'm with you on the food, water and medicine.
But, I haven't yet understood why anyone would want to steal a soggy TV.

11. Solid state man..... when that shit dries out it MAY work.
I can see breaking the window of the 711 to get water and food.... but chopping through my neighbor's door to get their microwave... shit I wouldn't even have power

14. Yes, and it is as naive as the rest of your argument...
To get food and water, one must pay, to pay, one must get money from ATM, house, wallet, something... however, all of these things are under water.

8. I can't answer for this particular poster, but I can make a bet:
Everyone one of the armchair looting officers on DU today has claimed to have been JUST as poor, JUST as hungry, been through HORRIFIC NATURAL DISASTERS...and wouldn't DREAM of taking a piece of bread to make it through the most godawful night of their lives.

Just letting you know.

10. That's what he said.
*Other than* food, water, etc.

I don't see what anyone wants with a soggy TV, DVD player, etc. either (especially if they have no house to plug any of that junk in with)

12. You can trade..
those items for food and water which will be in short supply. With the very little relief effort coming in, they are going to need to bargain for their lives.
