They keep SAYING that the French Quarter is ok, and yet

With all the aerial video we have seen, I do not recall ANY of the most famous part of the city.. Has anyone else seen any video..

Every time an official is asked, they seem to get all evasive and say ."It's fine".."it's dry".. but common sense says to me..how can that be?? or why not show us?

I am wondering if maybe they are afraid to show what it really looks like..that it might totally demoralize everyone..

but it is taking on water now too. It isn't as high as other areas, but unless the breaks in the Lake levee are stopped up, it too will flood.

So little of New orleans is the French Quarter, but from the reporting, you'd think the Quarter was all there was. Disgusting.

9. If the water is knee-high on Canal Street

I don't understand how the French Quarter can be totally dry. I've been thinking this for a couple of hours now, and I even asked my husband if he recalled having to go uphill at all when we went off of Canal Street into the French Quarter. I don't recall it being uphill, but it's been a few years. Do I have streets confused or something? Doesn't Canal Street run right along one side of the French Quarter? Perhaps someone more familiar with the area can set me straight, cuz it's just not adding up for me right now.

13. In the French Market yesterday

A friend of mine called to check on a project she is doing for a store down there. She was told the water was at the steps, but not in the store. That was yesterday.

How close is the French Market from the French Quarter? How much higher/lower?
