Ho's in the Media Hood...
CNN's conservative, mean-spirited sissy-boy Tucker Carlson stuck it to FOX News the other day on Crossfire when he was defending telemarketers. Someone asked Carlson for his phone number, and he impulsively barked out a number. "That's my phone number," he said. "Everybody be sure and give me a call." Then, the obnoxious little twit repeated the number--twice.

That was good for giggles all around. But, wait -- the next day we discover that the number actually belonged to the Washington bureau of FOX News. After digging out from under the deluge of crank calls, FOX responded by posting Carlson's unlisted home phone number on its Web site, which resulted in Carlson's wife getting inundated with obscene calls from FOX's maniacal, notoriously rabid viewers...

So, then we have Carlson slinging snot all the way to FOX to complain, then running over to the Washington Post -- who obviously ALSO had no other news to cover -- to call the whole FOX gang "a mean, sick group of people."

Can't argue with that. But, really, do we need fair-and-balanced news slugging it out with the-most-trusted-name-in-news on prime time?

Now, I'm all for right-wingers turning on each other like a bunch of scorpions and stinging themselves to death -- devouring each other, so to speak -- but they need to do it on their time, not ours.

More and more the news media is covering...the news media. Instead of covering the invasion, both FOX and CNN, and to an increasingly embarassing degree, the networks -- covered the media covering the invasion. How many "how I spent my March vacation" specials, starring "our man in Bahgdad" did we sit through? Is there anyone here who does NOT know that CNN's Walter Rodgers was not only embedded, but literally impaled on the "tip of the spear," and that it felt damn good to be there?

And who does not know the entire war was there only as a backdrop for Geraldo Rivera's ducking-and-weaving, dodging-and-spinning coverage "on the front lines" -- oh, and of course for drawing a few lines in the sand...

That little "line-drawing" episode brought the entire media hood scurrying, and they had a field day jumping on ol' Geraldo like a bunch of chickens on a June bug. Filled up a whole week of airtime, with reporters, analysts and vacuous, babbling pundits whooping it up, interviewing each other -- entertaining and distracting us so that we scarcely noticed the scattered body parts of Iraqi civilians, the wounded and dead US soldiers and marines, the sheer magnitude of cluster-bomb hell...

But the really really neat thing is the hours and hours the media has been able to entertain us with Rush Limbaugh's braying on ESPN about Donovan McNabb, the Eagles' black three-time pro-bowler quarterback who's had a sterling NFL career but has lost two games this season, rather than cover news such as...the energy bill the Republicans crafted in secrecy and are poised to ram through Congress...the blatant lies Dick Cheney tells about Iraq's WMD's every time he opens his mouth...the depressing fact that 34.6 million Americans are living below the federal poverty line...the jobs that are being lost every day...the scary knowledge that someone "high up in the administration" leaked the name of a CIA agent in a possible act of treason...

Geraldo "keep the camera on me, boys" Rivera said he was tempted to "lash out" at his fellow media tormenters, but realized -- "The Iraq story is not about me. It's about the GI's and the people and the war." Aw, c'mon Rivera -- don't be so modest. We all know the "Iraq story" is about you and your buds and how you "feel" about the whole rollicking mess...

Today, Frisco's Mark Morford called the entire cable news bunch, "puling little simpering jackass media whoreslug nothingblobs."

Can't argue with that either.

Yep. Skanky bitch dogs...

I used to laugh and say the media would create a war just to cover it. I'm not laughing anymore...

5. the media has been primarily about the media for a long time
Look at all the entertainment "news" which is nothing more than PR spewed out by publicists.

Look at all the "news" that, as you point out, is about the "personalities".

Look A&E's "biography" which is nothing more than more of the same PR for celebrities.

It just goes on and on and on and on .......
