Just heard from a friend from N.O.
She lives there and owns a business there. She lost everything.
She left Sunday afternoon heading to northern Alabama to stay with her mom.
Traffic got stranded. She spent all of yesterday in traffic and slept in an abandoned parking lot last night. Travel conditions are not the best.
She just arrived safely at her mom's tonight.
Geez.

1. Glad to Hear Your Friend is Safe.
Does she know how bad things are back home, yet?

3. I'm so sorry for her.
So many stories like this. My heart just breaks for the people who've lost so much. :(

4. I grew up in northern Alabama...
Tell her that we're thinking about her. What a complete mess and misery. But she's alive and she's got family that she can go to. That's more than some poor souls in New Orleans have tonight.

6. Yeah
My friend Annie's daughter, Julie, lived down there on Coliseum Street. Haven't heard from her in two days, now (since she reported that the front wall of her apartment building was collapsing at 5:30 am). Who knows what the hell's happened to her -- she could be dead for all we know.
Oh, well -- as long as the righteous looters the DUers seem to love so fucking much aren't interfered with or looked down upon or in any way interpreted as less than legitimate, all will be A-OK. Hey -- maybe they can snatch, er, liberate Jooj's stuff while they're at it.
John
Power to the people, right on.
