2. On CNN Headline news they said martial law was enacted
oh, and they kept showing the same 2-3 shots of dark skinned 'looters' over and over again.

3. NO is filling up. 2 broken levees. No pumps working.
Much of coastal Biloxi gone and looks like the tsunami. All casinos gone. Don't know about martial law in NO but the National Guard is coming and partially there.

4. It is indeed a very, very bad scene
NO has rising water... levees broken, not enough NG to help any but those in the WORST cases. Superdome a disaster (hot, no water). All LA politicos seen on TV look to be at the verge of tears.

Biloxi - Casinos gone, town in ruins.......

5. News just said NO expecting 9 more feet of water by morning.
Calling for total evacuation of NO since it is already 80% under water. If you can get out, get out. It will not be habitable for a while. No potable water or electricity, society is breaking down. Onthe other hand, people are helping each other out, trying to survive. If people can get out, they should do so. crap fuck and all that.

6. Amazing things are happening:
Wreckage is immense.
Search and rescue is top priority.
+4000 Natl. Guard mobilized.
Coast guard, Pentagon, Merchant Marines, Salvation Army.
Everyone is on this-No cost will be spared.

The Governor is talking about rebuilding. (I'm not sure they should.)
The U.S. Army Corp of Engineers is already working on the flooding. Could be days to stop. They're expecting more levees to go and the water to rise even more...

They're bringing in motor homes and cruise ships to help with refugees. The Red Cross is already on the scene with as it's largest mobilization ever. Everyone is sending money. Even Hugo Chavez is getting in on the act.

There is no martial law to be declared. However, MSNBC said that there's "widespread latitude" to suspend civil liberties.

Bottom line is that everyone who can help ~ will, and everyone who needs help will get it. Other than that, nothing is certain.

Good luck and stay safe
