I have a couple of predictions regarding Hurricane Katrina

They aren't even beginning to bother with the bodies, which is unfortunate because that leads to nasty outbreaks of cholera and such. Especially where there is polluted water that everybody must trudge through.

I made my prediction #1 based upon an immediate report of 100 dead in Biloxi. If they immediately knew of ~100 dead and you take into account the wide swath of damage, the small towns and the cities where they are only marking homes with bodies, not collecting as it's still a rescue effort, the "bodies floating in the water", and the hurricane force winds traveling so far inland with this storm, then the number of dead will be unbearable.

1. This will deliver a serious blow to the U.S. Economy aside from the initial shock vis a vis gas prices. Might not be all that apparent at first, but it will cause at least a serious erosion in it, not unlike the slow but inevitable flooding of the city of NO, actually.

2. (I hesitate to post this because I know NO DUers are sensitive, and I respect that.) There will be serious discussion of abandoning the city.

24. Experts expect Katrina to turn New Orleans into Atlantis

I thought that this story and this Weather Service advisory ("DEVASTATING DAMAGE...UNINHABITABLE FOR WEEKS...WATER SHORTAGES...HUMAN SUFFERING") were needlessly "over the top" when I read them on Sunday. But this isn't like putting LA or SF back together after an earthquake. And if I've learned anything at all in the past few days, it's that it's never too soon to start thinking about the unthinkable. It is entirely possible that not rebuilding New Orleans as we know it is the smartest thing we can do.

21. Bush loves it

Bushco has already positioned itself to take advantage of this tragedy. They are releasing some of our Strategic Oil reserves so he can look like a hero. He cut short his 5 week vacation to just 4 1/2 weeks. So I'm sure Conservatives will appreciate that.

This also has driven Iraq off the front page for quite some time.

They have already begun to blame their Economic slowdown/Recession on the catastrophe.

This tragedy was I'm sure seen as a Godsend by Bush and his cronies. Hmmm maybe God really is for Bush. LOL

This just goes to show: If a couple Thousand people have to lose their lives for the Republicans to gain a Political advantage then so be it.

This type of politics truly makes my skin crawl.

The Democratic leadership will do what they did during the Terri Schiavo Jesus-Freak Show: offer their sympathies then sit back with a bag of popcorn, forcing the MSM to focus on the Republican leadership making a spectacle of themselves!
