One of Limbaugh's drugs leads to hearing loss!
Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 01:37 AM by Chryslin
Read this, and then try and tell me his "hearing loss" problem was not drug-related.

Talk-radio titan Rush Limbaugh is being investigated for allegedly buying thousands of addictive painkillers from a black-market drug ring.
The moralizing motormouth was turned in by his former housekeeper - who says she was Limbaugh's pill supplier for four years.

Wilma Cline, 42, says Limbaugh was hooked on the potent prescription drugs OxyContin, Lorcet and hydrocodone - and went through detox twice.

Misuse of Pain Drug Linked to Hearing Loss
Doctors in L.A. and elsewhere have identified at least 48 cases of deafness tied to prolonged misuse of Vicodin and other comparable prescription medicines.

By LINDA MARSA, TIMES HEALTH WRITER

A powerful and potentially addictive painkiller used by millions of Americans is causing rapid hearing loss, even deafness, in some patients who are misusing the drug, according to hearing researchers in Los Angeles and elsewhere.

So far, at least 48 patients have been identified by doctors at the House Ear Institute in Los Angeles and several other medical centers who have treated patients with sudden hearing loss. The hearing problems appear to be limited to people who abuse Vicodin and other chemically comparable prescription drugs by taking exceptionally high dosages for several months or more, doctors said.

(Vicodin is a combination of acetaminophen and hydrocodone and is also sold under the brand names Lorcet, Lortab and Hydrocet.)

8. i saw it coming
from the day they came out with his hearing loss, it could be only 1 of 2 things, drugs, or hookers, and i dont think he could get a hooker.

2. I was always suspicious
How his hearing loss came on so sudden with no previous injury or infection. According to him, he just woke up one day and BOOM, he was deaf.

It makes more sense now.

This is interesting. I linked to it on my web site. Thanks for doing the footwork. Also, earlier tonight I wrote a post on Limbaugh's racism: www.scoobiedavis.blogspot.com

10. Even on DU, when news of his deafness came out...
... there were a lot of comments to the effect of, "I think the guy sucks pond scum, but suddenly going deaf is a rotten thing to happen to anyone," even though the guy clearly played for sympathy in the announcement of it.

And while I've made my share of jokes about this, think about it--this guy has been through detox for the problem a couple of times, lost his hearing and had to have cochlear implants, and he's still buying _thousands_ of the pills a month. That's one seriously fucked-up individual.

On one level, I hope the effect of this is the realization on the part of at least some of his listeners that if they were idolizing someone this messed up, what does it say about their own priorities?

On another, more karmic, level, it should be an object lesson to all his followers that the price paid for having that much venom and hate in your system is self-erosion.

Cheers.

11. Speak up....................
I can't hear you! I've taken Norco for the last 4 years due to a failed back surgery. I haven't noticed any hearing loss, then again I haven't really abused it. Taken as directed, it's the only thing that facilitates my leading any sort of normal life.

14. dumpgump, don't worry
you should be okay with the norco. no, i'm not a doctor but i do med. transcription for a pain clinic and the docs always try to change their pain pills from lortab, oxycodone, oxycontin, etc to norco cuz it's easier on the liver and doesn't have as many side effects. that's what i get from the reports, anyway

12. Not only that, but
among the three types of drugs cited, other side effects are "reduced mental capacity", "greatly reduced sex drive" and easier loss of temper. We're dealing with an unhappy puppy here, methinks :D

13. Warm and fuzzy....NO
Is it nice to see Limbaugh catch some flack, yes. Do I hope it drives him from his pedestal, yes. Does it make me feel warm and fuzzy, no. Sorry I just can't take joy in the misery of others, even scumbags like Limpballs

18. Yeah, I understand what you're saying....
...but on the other hand, I've got almost 10 years of recovery from drug addiction, so I'm not trying to mock the pain -- I've been there. But this could be the best thing for him. Confrontation and maybe some humility is the best thing for the active addict. But as someone that has frequently said that drug users should be behind bars, I find the irony just too satisfying to let him off the hook completely.

15. He deserves
everything that will be coming his way. He will fall on his sword and ask forgivness from his dittoheads and explain how he was addicted to "prescription drugs". He will make up some injury that caused him pain and Dittoheads will make nothing of this. Why was he taking the painkillers? The article makes it sound like it was recreational drug use.

Tsk.... Tsk.... Tsk.....I hope Rush will be joining the self righteous Bill Bennett on his lowered peg. Judge Not Lest Ye Be Judged Yourself. Damn hypocrites!
