Where are all the helicopters??

Watching all the people in New Orleans stranded on highways, bridges, etc - making me sick, sad and angry. We are the world richest nation, with the biggest military, and we can not evacuate one of our own cities? We can't rescue citizens stranded without food or water???

3. They need airboats [IDEAL for this], and amphibious craft.

Helicopters are high maintenance and churn fuel like crazy.

Airboats are really ideal for the kind of maneuvering that will be required. The navy is sending hovercraft, but those suckers are huge.

Some good, old-fashioned Ducks would be handy.

4. the entire rescue effort in NO seems thoroughly inadequate . . .

by now, there should have been a massive mobilization to find survivors and get them to safety . . . instead, we continue to see people stranded all over the place, and seemingly little being done to help them . . . most of these folks are likely out of food and water, and they need to be rescued now . . .

this is a classic CAT 4 disaster, and has sgtraned available resources to the limit

And I mean national

Where is the call to Geneva? I am sure nations have offered help but our fearless leaders have turned them down, that thing called national pride
