I'm sure he was able to thoroughly inspect the damage and assess the full impact of the dituation while eating pretzels and looking at it through a little tiny window from 30,000 feet.

55. 5:00PM!!!???
My first reaction -- 5:00PM?

That's 3 o'clock in the afternoon on the west coast.

This is a perfect indication that Bush and his cronies just don't get it.

This is one of the biggest catastrophies in American history ... and he's going to talk in the late afternoon???!!!

Is he still planning on being in bed by 9:30PM? Has the vacation just been transfered to Washington, D.C.?

And, mostly what we will hear is lots of words about God and prayer ...

He and Cheney need to resign.

57. Actually...
Its even earlier than you think..

5:00pm/et
4:00pm/ct
3:00pm/mt
2:00pm/pt

I would venture a guess and say he will reach approximately 1/3 (if he is lucky) of his constituents. Thats only a big guess based on the average work schedule and populations of the time zones...either way I would say this is a stupid time to "address the nation".

There is a man of compassion.

42. Look for Bush
to be both medicated and wired-in to the Rove earpiece...the GOP have a LOT riding on a presidential address that isn't---for a change---aimed at small sympathetic audiences. Their whole show rests on the ability for this monkey to act grave and engaged. If he fucks this up, the whole gang will be gone before the '06 mid-terms one way or another. Flashback to Will Farrell on Saturday Night Live as GWB having an anxiety attack in the Oval Office...only this time it's for real.
Look also for him, somehow, shoe-horning support for Iraq in there somewhere, while totally disregarding the questions of the whereabouts of the region's much-needed Nat'l Guard....
Rumsfeld will likely be on hand, for post-speech replay of his excuses for inaction during looting.
Ugh.

5 PM News Conference

1. Attempt to look strong.

2. Assure everyone HE has everything under control.

3. Attempt to act saddened.

4. Note that HE released oil reserves to help Americans.

5. Some God reference.

6. Link the hurricane to 911

7. Somehow mention Iraq.

8. Some kind of "this is what makes our country strong" "ehhh... pulling together to help one another"

Anyone want to bet how many time he will say "loved ones"????

I say 8.

Notice he isn't holding a press conference? This way he doesn't have to answer why the Fed is so slow and under maned to deal with this.

Says if "we don't win now, a lot of Americans will be speaking that there Spanish."

Also hopes that southern state down south will dry off soon.

79. Too late. Won't get fooled again. People wanted to see action, saw none
the bastard can't get out of this one. Getting around to dealing with this disaster in his "own good time" is something not even the media can help him gloss over this time. Pissant.

86. He will link it to 9/11...
It will be something along these lines...

This disaster underscores the danger of not fighting terrorism "over there", rather than "here". The damage Katrina has wrought is dwarfed by the potential damage terrorists can cause to our major cities should we allow our resolve to waver.

This is why I say we must continue to...blah, blah, blah....

I guess I had the space shuttle on my mind. I've been on Andrews and driven by hundreds of times. Go figure.
