go down. It will have very little to do with Katrina. Not very much because of Iraq. And little, if any, due to Cindy.

IT'S ALL ABOUT THE PRICE OF GAS! Hell, gas could go back down to 2 bucks a gallon, and his approvals would be at 50%. It's all about me! That's how much I think of the American people.

Maybe before the Hurricane and the disaster, coupled with his lack of response and the piss-poor response, people probably would have guaged their support on the price of gas.

But not now. People see the pictures, they see the devastation.

I hope and pray that people remember all of this, I have faith in the true American spirit that they will.

Several of my co-workers are Republicans, and they are absoloutly livid at *'s response to the Hurricane Disaster. Even one of them said that he wished he would have voted for Kerry, because Bush has done nothing.

I wish the folks around here were like that. I only hear the bitching about the disaster hurting them at the pump. They seem to care less about New Orleans, or what is happening in Iraq. It's all about what happens to them personally.

20. Here in Virginia,

all of my Republican friends think the economy is doing great but that the "liberal media" is making things sound worse than they are.

They do lament the price of gas, but have no unkind words for Bush or Republicans in general. It's all the terrorists fault and Clinton for not doing more.

They believe the Iraq war is going well, that we liberated an enslaved people and that the "liberal media" aren't showing us the good parts of the war. They almost all believe that WMDs were found.

At least here, I see no reduction in love for Bush. In fact, it seems the worse he does, the more they rally around him. I don't think it is like this everywhere as this is a super-Republican stronghold (liberals tend to be closeted out here, so conservatives are very vocal and outgoing and almost can't believe it when they find one).

THat well worded response certainly put him in his place.

Now I happen to disagree with the OP as I assume you do, but I would have worded it a bit less succinctly. For example I would have sated time pointing out that some Americans might feel that way, but that many more are genuinely moved by the tragedy and genuinely upset with President Bush's handling of the both Hurricane Katrina and Iraq.

But that just semes so wordy when compared to the elegant simplicity of "horseshit." SO much easier to hurl invective rather than engaging those you disagree with.

I work and live in a community where greed is all. What happened in New Orleans only bothers them because it affects their wallets. I'm a bit jaded, for sure, but my faith in the American people continues to plummet. I guess 5 years of Bush has done that to me.

Is this about post counts? How do you know I "never had much support?" My former name was Ishoutandscream and had way over a thousand posts. I had to re-register when my computer crashed at work and I purchased a new computer at home.

The average dumbass cares about one thing, his wallet. If you made him/her a deal and said look, 1800 people(many poor and minorities so no biggie right?) are going to die fighting for a lie but its nobody you know and gas will be 1.20. Most of them would nod quietly yes and walk away.

that no more Americans would have to serve and die in the Middle East. You are so right - many would rather pay a buck and have others sacrificing and dying to keep it that way. It sickens me to no end.
