More insult to an extraordinary injury......
We have all seen the flooding. The countless homes in NOLA underwater to their roofs and higher. The thousands of cars, with their incumbent fuel and oil, leaking into the flood waters. The obvious problems with sewage and other contaminants. All that will most likely simply be pumped into the gulf causing yet another environmental concern. ("Concern" is admittedly an understatement)

Now think about this;
Each and every single one of those homes that has sheetrock interior walls and insulation will, if the houses aren't razed outright, have to have those walls and insulation torn out and disposed of and then, of course, replaced. The cost to most of the poor will be prohibitive.

New landfills are most certainly going to have to be appropriated.

The amount of debris this disaster will generate is almost incomprehensible.

I think it is fair to say that New Orleans will NEVER be the same and the lives of those hundreds of thousands that didn't evacuate because they couldn't afford to will change forever.

(Sorry if this sounds like a message from Mr. Obvious but i just think it needed saying)
