I wonder if Rush was also doing Heroin?
Don't most people who abuse Oxycontin eventually do Heroin too? After all it is just as easy to get and since it is the same thing as Oxy, why not? I think it might be less expensive.

So do you think Rush had a heroin supplier? Or do you think he somehow saw himself as different than Heroin addicts because his opiate was "legal".

1. "It wasn't me, it was the drugs talking" ...
imagine if a "liberal" commentator used that as an excuse to get out of something.

2. Yeah, now he is going to be the poor victim of his addiction
but he will still be a freaking phony. Someone should find some vicious comments by Rush about drug abusers and dealers. You know he has made them.

12. Here you go
He's responsible for AIDS, apparently:

Drug abuse & unsafe sex cause AIDS, not homophobia
Ever since the AIDS crisis became politicized I have been leery of those who claimed that their primary purpose was to find a cure for the disease. My doubts were confirmed in January 1990. AIDS activists had begun to employ a strategy of confrontation, accusing various government agencies for the spread of the disease. This was a transparent attempt to deflect attention away from the drug abuse and unsafe sex, which are responsible for the spread of over 90% of all cases of AIDS, & focus blame for the disease on so-called homophobes who opposed sufficient funding for research and a cure. As a result, the notion evolved that money-and only money-could rid us of the horrors of the HIV virus.
, there’s good money and bad money in the fight against AIDS. This established that there were some things more important than a cure; that ideology mattered as well! If you were a conservative you had no place in the fight against AIDS.

4. Wow - is that what he said?
I knew someone that was a heroin addict. He could be the nicest most interesting person in the world. Then he could turn into the most horrible offensive mean and nasty person you'd ever want to meet. I never understood his extreme mood swings until one day he told me. In retrospect, I had no prior knowledge to guess what was wrong with him. The number 1 priority of these people is their addiction - they will do anything to get their drug. The "cure" rate for heroin addicts is less than 1%.

5. I haven't been following this story too closely....Rush makes me puke
But did he admit to being an oxycontin addict? That is some powerful shit. I used to be addicted to percocet. I understand oxycontin is like about ten percocets. But no, people addicted to percs and oxycontin don't necessarily or even usually go to herion. After all , we think we are "high class" addicts. We go to doctors. We get real prescriptions. :eyes: Of course, we are just as much a junkie as the guy doing herion but most pill-poppers don't ever want to admit that and dont do street drugs.

6. Difference is
he didn't go to a doctor for a prescription. He bought them from a "BLACK MARKET DRUG RING". :bounce:

8. I think he was selling them too
Why would anyone need 92 pills a day? He may have been stockpiling but if he were not a rich white guy he would be in handcuffs for this.

10. Doubt he was selling
he's already unspeakably rich. But in the eyes of the law, 5000 pills in a month and a half makes him a dealer. Poor Rush :)

This guy is toast. I'm a former prosector and anyone buying that many drugs is considered a distributor. He probably wasn't selling them, just partying with his RW friends, you know like rich folk do with the cocaine in large crystal bowls filled will tiny silver spoons. And bowls of pills, etc.

ON EDIT: Distribution of drugs is the same offense whether you were selling it or just giving it to friends. So I repeat. Rush is toast.

9. Wow, Rush was let go!

I just turned on the radio. I am listening about the McNab incident on 'Radio From Hell' and it's great! The DJ is saying that if the comment wasn't racially motivated, then Rush should have left race out of it. Makes sense. Now Sean Hannity is a 'Rush Limbaugh psychophant' according to the DJ. Onto pain pill addiction...Rush compared them to Heroin. Limbaugh is being compared to an elephant. He's being investigated. Lord the shit is hitting the fan for the right wing, isn't it? The DJ is doing a great Limbaugh impersonation. The female DJ, "I love this!" I'm sure they'll get some calls from the Hitler Youth around here. Now they're saying how he's referred to himself as 'a moral compass' and now they're going on about how the 'Family Values' radio station here that plays the wingnut line-up had to fire a morning DJ for 'racism'. It's Dr. Laura up at the plate for the hardball. They are mocking her about her view that 'it's a woman's job to provide sex for her husband'. This isn't a talk radio station--it's a non-Clear Channel alternative music station. I love the sound of wingnut bashing in the morning!

Sorry about the typos--I need to finish my coffee before attempting to write.

11. Hydrocodone (Vicodin) is Also a Synthetic Opiate
I was injured in a car accident a few years ago and was prescribed Hydrocodone. It made me loopy and delusional-seriously. Not that this is a total explanation for Limpball's behavior.

13. People look at addiction to legal drugs differently...
...even if the addict bought them illegally. There are examples out there, especially athletes, that support this idea. All he has to do is concoct a story that shows he was prescribed a painkiller legally and became an innocent victim. It could be related to having a toothache, back pain, etc.. Sure, I hope this reduces the monster's influence, but he is a master bullshitter... can't wait to see how he spins it. Should be a lesson for all aspiring used car salesman...

15. Bull shit
At least not in New Jersey. You get illegal drugs, I don't care whether they are pills or herion, its the same. I've prosesecuted people for writing phoney scripts. Now for a first time offender, it is appropriate for them to be sentenced to rehab rather than jail, but this case involves a whole lotta drugs. And since Rush is a celebrity, they are gonna be careful not to give him special treatment
