Airconditioning makes sence. But. This seems really crazy.

1. Where else can they go?
There are so many people without homes now, it's overwhelming.

2. There are many in Arkansas
some as far north as Springdale, which is near the Missouri border. I think it is better, because there are only a few hundred or less in each group. Seems to me it would be easier to handle the folks, and less stressful on the folks.

4. N.O. infrastructure completely wasted
Send the people to where they can be cared for.

5. It's the only place to go
The rest of Louisiana is overloaded with people and Houston is the only place where they could house thousands of people.

7. Yes, I think it does.
I have friends who live in central Louisiana and their town is completely packed with refugees (yes, that's what they are, we might as well quit calling them evacuees, IMO). They don't have the resources to deal with any more people.

In fact, she said some people were already applying for jobs. I'm amazed at the resiliance.

8. Thing is, they're trying to keep it simple.

Which is smart. Move large group of people from one place to another place. Not a bunch of places. The fuel alone for these buses is going to be incredible. The closest major city with a large enough space to hold them all is Houston with the Astrodome. From there, I'm sure they will be free to go wherever they can.

It's the simplest, easiest plan. And it gets them out of THERE.

9. Yes
Its not perfect, but where else could they go? All other neighbors have their own storm damage and refugee problems. At least they will have food, water, showers, electricity, medical care and some semblance of normalcy if not comfort.

10. It's really busy here in "Hou Orleans"
There are so many refugees here now and more flooding in that I'd hate to see these people go to a smaller city that couldn't hold them. There are probably tens of thousands of people here, and it's the closest big city to New Orleans, so it makes sense. Texans are also very generous, and I've seen all sorts of freebies from restaurants offering free meals, to furniture stores letting people sleep on their beds, gyms offering free hot showers and activities for kids, and the list goes on and on. Houston is the best place for these people right now, second to their own homes without the flooding of course.
