If the death toll exceeds that of 911 will America regain some perspective.
911 has overshadowed everything else in the AMerican psyche for the last 4 years.
Can this disater reset the clock? Wil sanity and a sense of perspective return?

Experts have estimated between 1/10 and 1/3 of those who failed to evacuate will die. This means somewhere between 30K and 100K deaths. And both were on CNN saying this, in rapid succession.

we can kill brown-skinned people in some third-world country and delude ourselves into feelings of vengeance
shooting wind and water is decidedly unfulfilling
besides most of these dead are poor and African American, so they don't count for as much (in the Murkan psyche) as all those middle-class white WTC victims
