They could have done their part to trumpet the seriousness and force greater focus on evacuations and preventive measures.
Hell, you should see the preparations folks in LA county go through when big storms are expected. Everyone's sandbagging for days ahead of the storm.
How hard would it have been for the fed team to drop a few hundred 2 ton sandbags in place on the levees BEFORE the hurricane hit?

The levee system in NOLA is huge, the largest in the world. While they could have flown around dropping sandbags in advance, it would have been a guessing game as to where to put them.

this morning to break away from NO coverage and focus on the missing girl in Aruba while all the other outlets continued to focus on NO.
