Unfortunately, that would be about as effective at bringing down gas prices as holding your breath for as long as you can would be at stopping global warming. BUT, I will tell you what might have some effect. How about organizing "don't drive anywhere for lunch day". Bring a sandwich to work and don't spend 15 minutes in the Taco Bell drivethru. How about organizing "don't drive to the store weekend" Besides saving the gas of people driving around, empty parking lots at Walmart or the mall might agitate some corporate retailers enough to lobby someone. I'm probably just dreaming to think this could happen, but it would be more effective than "don't buy gas on thursday" I encourage anyone that receives such an e-mail to reply with my suggestions.

2. I Don't Know
I mean, how will the stores know this one day across the board boycott is due to rising gas prices?

I wonder if the Evil Empire isn't already doing something. They like having low prices and as fuel prices increase it will raise the costs of getting their goods to the stores. As rising gas prices crimp their customers' budgets, there will be less discretionary spending.

I am inclined to believe most major retail companies are already worried about this.

3. How am I going to fit all my Anti-bush bumper stickers on my bicycle?
I am seriously considering boycotting gasoline all together. I'm just one person, though, so I guess it would be a drop in the bucket unless everyone does it.

4. I think that's an excellent idea
I'm also looking into the vanpool program (I currently carpool) at my work and I've already started pressuring my employer to start looking into solutions to not only the problem of gas prices, but the gas shortage. I'd say close to half of their employees if not more commute at least 30 minutes each way. If we can't afford to get to work...then we're not going to get to work. That might be a problem for them, one would think. Telecommuting would not be a problem for most of the work we do there anyway.

6. It's pretty disgusting
how most people still refuse to carpool. I live only a couple minutes from work but some people at my job drive over half an hour and live right next door to co-workers.

5. My idea:
Don't vote Republican every first Tuesday in November.

Problem solved.
