The Republicans are finished.
Thousands of dead Americans, needlessly, in this hurricane and $4+/gallon gasoline.

They're finished.

6. Seriously, I'm trying to share you optimism.
I hope you're right!!!

(It's a shame that things have had to sink this low to make anything happen. Problem is that it will probably need to sink a whole lot lower before anything actually happens. Let's hope that by the time people with half-a-brain finally get to turn things around, things haven't sunk so low that they are beyond repair.)

All that's left is for us to stick it to them.

How long does the list need to get?

This is RIDICULOUS.

A MASSIVE terrorist attack on our soil, followed up by the invasion of a country that never even THREATENED us, costing us hundreds of billions of dollars, killing soon-to-be 2,000 Americans, plus 10's of thousands of Iraqis, and destroying our reputation and tying up our soldiers, not to mention trade and federal deficits that have NEVER been seen before, and now a TOTALLY PREDICTABLE natural disaster that has killed thousands due to lack of preparedness, or even RESPONSE.

IT'S RESIGNATION TIME. GOODBYE, AND GOOD RIDDANCE.

44. very weird you say that BLG, I've been wondering why the Civil War
popped into my head... Olbermann said the evacuation like NO hadn't happened since then.

I think a lot of the divisiveness in the US is manufactured purposely by mediawhores with intent of helping the GOP keep control. Gives them a rationale for how GOP keeps 'winning' despite how poorly the US is doing.

Can't steal an election without a story line to hide the theft behind.

I don't buy that we are that divided.

Most people are centrists or are willing to compromise.

we got to stick together.

49. I mostly see the media as constantly covering the GOP's ass.
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 11:01 PM by BullGooseLoony
Because the media, after all, are owned by the very same companies who have interests in the GOP agenda.

Different people see different things, though.

I most definitely buy into the fact that we're divided. Those who see through the bullshit, and those who don't, or aren't willing to. That's basically it.

As far as sticking together, the problem is that the neocon goals and agenda aren't for the benefit of our country. They're for the benefit of those millionaires and billionaires who are within the neocon cabal. It makes me angry when those who are supposed to be on our side capitulate to them. They strengthen them and undermine our message at the same time.

If he's not back in 100 or 1,000 or 10,000 years, will they finally say, "You know, I'm not going to believe in this fairy tale anymore."

there is no evil Osama to disappear into a nebulous Pakistan.

There is only **'s vindictive, jingoist war in Iraq, sucking the money out of America's real security issues. Public services like fire, Nat. Guard, police, health, environment, and equal opportunity and protection under the law.

There is no one to spin this on. And when they point at someone else, the bleeding south, recognizing who has been screwing with them all along is going to kick them into the gutter, light them up, and piss on them to put 'em out.

Simply leaving Washington to head south to help in the efforts would be a major step. But I think I'd be super pissed right now at anyone using such a huge tragedy to try to secure votes right now. It's just WAY too soon. Especially with all the people still trapped in New Orleans ....

it will make many repugs embarrashed of who they supported.

it also shows us how ignorant and useless the repugs are.

this didn't happen in another country which would allow the ignorant imbeciles like Toby Keith to spew off patriotism to support an illegal war. Neither is it like 911 where bush and his merry imbeciles could point to a foreign enemy and court racism to become heroes.

this is all the cause of bush - global warming, ignoring the environment, ignoring preparations. What was bush doing when it was clear this storm was headed to NO?

46. Don't forget the slow response time ... and where is our National Guard??
Oh, yeah. Defending us in Iraq. So perhaps thousands will die in our South just because people couldn't rescue them fast enough, because we waged a slap-ass war and have now stretched ourselves too thin. Who the hell can remember why we went over to Iraq, the reasons were so shady to begin with. The Republicans have a LOT of blood on their hands from the last few years. Both in Afghanistan and Iraq and now in the lives of those we are losing in the south simply because no one was there to help them fast enough.

I remember more people responding to natural disasters in the past. Am I wrong in that?? I loved how the governor of LA stumbled when asked directly whether or not the president had told her he wanted to come down to LA. Unlike the governor of Mississippi, she couldn't lie and say, "Yes, he has and I told him to stay away." She said that he should come down and see firsthand the devastation. From her responses, you could clearly discern that the president had NOT offered to come down and to see it.

I do like how all the news pundits remark that the resident cut his vacation short to take care of the response and recovery IN WASHINGTON. He was closer to it all in TX.

Poor baby had to cut his vacation short. When you're given 24 out of 52 weeks in vacation per year, do they carry over when you haven't used them all or do you just lose them at the end of the year?

...but look at it this way: except for the hurricane (which few people will blame on the Republicans), virtually every bit of this, including soaring gas prices, was in effect by autumn of last year. And a majority of voters still cast their ballots for another four years of Chimpy.

:-(
