Where are the news reporters getting food and shelter from?
Could someone answer this for me?

Is there highground outside of New Orleans that's near habitable/usable?

9. I'm sure a few are.
Everything isn't completely underwater, but it won't be long before they, too will be ordered out.

Except the embedded bunch like Baghdad has, I guess. (??))

16. Live coverage from one NOU's communications center
They said they would be teaming with Tulane to get all the students together for classes/shared credits. They have a lot of good info.

3. Depends...
I heard one reporter say they slept in their truck/van/car....I heard one say they brought gasoline with them and people were trying to take it...

I think it depends.

5. Many aren't.
Those hotels aren't exactly very nice right now.

Plus I think Shepard Smith has been on that overpass for over 24 hours now...

12. He's currently doing a dateline special on NBC
I don't know if it's taped. The background behind him is blurry, but I think he's outside.

17. Is the special about what's "currently" going on with evacuation...?
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 08:53 PM by KoKo01
I've checked MSNBC since the first day..and haven't heard a report from him live inside the SuperDrome.

I figured it got too hot and "smelly" for him. He missed his airconditioning and hair spray and managed to "copter outta there" somehow.

I'd really like to know how or if he got out. Many folks got stranded in NO at the airport just because they chose end of August for vacation.
CNN reported those folks were still there as of this a.m. sleeping on chairs and floor and patience was getting short.

Seems some of our reporters are "troopers" who live out of the Sattelite Trucks with the "Safty Crews" who drive them everywhere. SuperStars like Williams just drop in and "lift out."

I hope I'm wrong about him...but I swear I've not seen anymore reporting from him since the first day and night in that Hell Hole Super Drome.

I do understand though that the Super Dome might have been a better Hell than what those folks faced on the outside if they had stayed through Katrina.

10. What I want to know is why in the f^$% are the news anchors reporting
from NO and the Gulf Coast.
If you are not there to help, stay the FUCK out.

Yes the world needs to know how bad it is but we don't need all the news anchors showing up and consuming food and water that is needed by the refugees.

13. Actually the reporters are sharing their resources WITH the refugees
There is no water pressure in the area; the reporters are staying outside the affected areas.

14. the closest we could get rooms was near Meridian MS.
Edited on Wed Aug-31-05 08:27 PM by librechik
I spent the last two days on the phone trying to house 2 different television news crews.

There are rooms in Pensacola, but you can't drive from Biloxi to Pensacola. Several bridges are gone. You have to drive to Birmingam and drive across AL and MS to get back to Biloxi! Cars and vans are getting hard to rent too. Electric service is not universal and not available in large areas.

Last night somebody's mom and dad in our organization let us sleep on their floor in Baton Rouge. There are no rooms available anywhere. My coworker said people were laughing at her on the phone when she asked.

NBC was well prepared--they got rooms ahead of time in Biloxi and also took along satellite phones. Cell phone service is down and land lines are all "busy" Some folks were able to get RVs in other states and drive down. I don't know what CNN did, they probably sent crews down from Atlanta by car and had rooms in advance too, judging by the coverage.
