Homeland security has failed this week, hasn't it?

Two weeks to track a hurricane and we're still unprepared to deal with it. Can you imagine a sneak attack?

We are in very big trouble.

1. the hurricane didn't play fair
it pretended it was going to hit florida/alabama state line

i guarantee we didn't have any 2 weeks to prepare

however, you are right, your point is well taken

3. Doesn't matter. He had YEARS to prepare for an inevitable flood in NO
and vacationed 50 times in 5 years while sending all the dough to his corporate cronies for a bogus war.

4. I didn't mean to imply where it would hit, only that where ever it hit
we would have chaos. It was going to hit somewhere, that was for sure. The disorganization of the people who should be in charge shows our weaknesses. Right up to the top.

10. I'm no longer convinced
that our government can protect us. I've always had my doubts, but the snails pace of the wheels of relief in this catastrophe have settled it. Remember that movie "Red Dawn" where America gets taken over by suprise? How fast do you think that the military & national guard would have everything under control and have water, food, clothes, medicine, and supplies for the citizenry in an emergency? I think we have concrete workable proof now. Red Dawn was just a movie-Katrina was the real deal. I have all the proof I need.

6. Gee, we had how much warning prior to Katrina ...
We didn't know the "exact" location of impact but we had a general area and we knew the time when it would occur...

We knew that any kind of major hurricane could place New Orleans in great peril ...

We knew many things yet we did nothing to put emergency (Federal)
services at the ready ...

The National weather service did it's job, the local governments did their job (evacuating people) ...

When the unknown or unthinkable happens what would make anyone think we had a clue what to do? (We = the US government)

9. I've been thinking this very thing all day
I thought we were supposed to be prepared for a disaster??? Apparently we're not prepared for anything, even with prior warning.

13. what if they did
we wouldn't even notice if they hit us now

they took out 2 buildings, part of another one, and a field in pennsylvania

katrina took out two states and part of a third

terrorists can't compete

a dirty bomb would be page 32 at this point

the smart terrorist might as well go home & forget abt it if they want any media play

14. I hope you're right but...
I won't count on it! And who said it would be a dirty bomb? There are several missing from the old USSR, that pack the industrial sized whammy. At least that's the word.
