Shocked in NC tonight....this is madness....I went out at 8 PM
to get an MRI on my knee, and noticed that all gas stations had long lines....and highly variable prices, from 2.99 to 3.59 for the basic stuff. I figured I'd get some on my way home...all pumps were taken at a gas station, so I got in line behind someone who looked like they were done. Sat for 5 min - the complete asshole was sitting there talking on his cell phone. I walked over and asked him if he was done getting gas, then asked if he was just taking up the space talking on his phone. He started the swearing, got out and rushed at me like he was going to start a fight - said it was no business of mine, etc....I just got out of there.

This is what our misleader hath wraught in his presidency - enabling the dimantling of our culture by demonstrating that there are NO CONSEQUENCES for misbehaving. I am depressed tonight - I fear that things are going to have to get much worse before they get better.

Anyone got any hope?

2. Judo.
We must all start learning Judo.

They used to teach it in most military basic training.

It works. There's throwing, tripping, grappling, submission holds and CHOKING!

It works.

7. Gov. Mike Easley Statement On N.C. Gasoline Supply
http://www.wral.com/news/4921679/detail.html

Statement Given Wednesday By Gov. Easley Concerning Gasoline Supply In North Carolina
The two major pipelines that furnish gasoline to many states, including North Carolina, have been affected by Hurricane Katrina and are currently without electricity. They service North Carolina and 8-10 other states.

90 percent of our gas comes from these pipelines and right now they are not operational.

Suppliers generally have a week or so of supply. They have been shut down since the hurricane.

In the meantime, I am asking all North Carolinians to conserve gas. Some stations are already out.Wait for more information before making Labor Day travel plans.

What a bummer, having to deal with your knee and then some jerk-off at the gas station.

9. We have long lines here in Charlotte, NC
and it just blew me away. Luckily for me, I bought gas on Thursday last week($2.46). I went to my folks place and the gas was listed at $2.79.

As I left to come home, the price had jumped 20 cents and there were lines all over. There was even a cop directing traffic because the lines were spilling out onto a busy road.

I'm depressed too. Lord help us all.

10. Bad news for NC if this news station is right: $3.99 a gallon
You're just going to have to get your gas in the early morning hours before the crazies come out. Aren't there signs that say don't talk on cell phones?

http://www.wsoctv.com/news/4922859/detail.html

The price of gas hit $3.99 a gallon Wednesday night at a gas station in Lincoln County.

Lines for gas all over the Charlotte area stretched into the night.

Charlotte Mecklenburg police officers did traffic duty at many gas stations to keep lines orderly.

Some stations are running out of gas.

On the remote chance that it could cause a spark?

17. Isn't it breaking FEDERAL LAW to use a cell phone next to a gas pump?!
I wanted to once but then saw the big-ass sign.

Pity no station attendant saw him yakkin'...

18. I was in Raleigh last week...
:hi:

And it didn't seem so bad. Things must have got worse in a hurry. When I filled up the rental car on Friday, there was almost nobody at the gas station.

This was over on Falls Of Neuse. At that shopping center with the Books-A-Million and Red, Hot and Blue.

I had a long wait for my flight, a large bookstore, and a barbecue joint. What more could I have asked for? :-)

Here in Los Angeles, where I live, I noticed mega-lines today as I was coming home from work. I usually stop at a local station, but it was just too crowded.
