Another small sign of a turn in the tide

I went to my local Costco today, two 60-something women were handing out food samples in the frozen food section. They were talking loudly across the aisle for everyone to hear. Both were former Bush voters who had been forced to go back to work after retirement. They were bashing his SS plan, his response to the Katrina disaster, the war in Iraq, etc. I was amazed to hear this, but what was even better was watching the reactions of the customers. Many outright agreed with them and proceeded to express their own complaints with the current administration, others nodded in agreement and moved on. I stood off to the side and watched for a while. Not one person spoke up in Bush's defense. This is in an area that is approx 70% hard core Republican.

Another sign is the complete lack of yellow "Support the Troops" ribbons on the SUV's. Several months ago, you couldn't get away from them. Today, I didn't see a single one among the hundreds of cars in the parking lot. The grumbling at the gas pump is another good sign. Many Bush voters here are middle income seniors who are really being hit by the increases in gas prices.

OK folks, here's what ya do... get those labels which are sized for putting on floppies ( nobody uses those, no sense in letting the labels go to waste!)... download the pics, size them in a photo program and print them on those labels. Carry them in the car and make the pump educational when you fill up! EASY! Even a dumb blond like me can do it! ;)

It is a good sign, indeed!

I wish that the seniors in the wealthy areas of my city/state were seeing the light. Quite a few in the OC area, took on jobs at Disneyland. So many planned to do that when they retired anyway. I just wonder how many HAVE to continue to do it--as necessity for survival. They can't be faring well with the economy, gas prices, etc.

7. Here is the really sad part

I have spoken to many retired people who only have to work to pay for medical and prescriptions. Most did not realize they would lose their drug coverage when they retired.

10. I know, Many of my neighbors have had to do just that

My step-father's meds run them over 800 a month and they are both on Medicare. Luckily, they both lived a frugal life and have some savings so they can pay for the meds, many of their friends can't

Our local storews are filled with 60-70 yr old employees working for little more than minimum wage just to pay the bills. It is so sad to see them
